There were always rumors and allusions to capital police "complicity"......whatever you think about this particular video. It paints a different picture of capital police than was offered by the committee.
Get it out there...address it...it's part of the story. Interview those officers...why did you do that?
A answer could be..."we were outnumbered and at that point the focus was on de-escalation and getting these rubes out peacefully". Seems a plausible explanation to me...
Just think having these videos come out now...it opens up a can of worms that could have been addressed in a responsible manner.
This video was seen by all sides. There isn’t anything new here. You literally are believing the same people who were just caught lying about the 2020 election and didn’t care about it because of viewership.
Addressing this will have to be done now. You would have to think that the people who saw these videos didn’t think McCarthy would turn them over to Carlson for this to become another division point within the country based on lies.

The committee knew that the "capital police were giving "tours" narrative was out there...address it. This type of footage is what it was based off of...
Take it on....interview those officers....
I can see a plausible reason for it....I break down the "assault" into two phases.
Phase 1--Capital Police battling MAGA to keep them out...once the rubes breached the capital they keep battling to give time for congressional members and Pence etc to evacuate.
Phase 2---Once all VIP's are evacuated....de-escalate situation and get the Rubes to wander out cuz all the folks they were protecting were safe.
Basically what happened.
Jan 6 committee should have addressed it all. Now we're left with this. Fully expect Tucker and crew to release similar video's...steady drip.

Doubtful IMO. Actions were taken against some capital police members in 2021. If you're going to tell the story of Jan 6...you gotta tell the whole story.
When you don't....this is what we're left with. Could have addressed this type of video from Jan 6 and provided context. I think there is some understandable context to be provided...but it wasn't even touched on by the committee.

Doesn't matter. Actually addressing this head on and giving context would have added to...not taken away from...the legitimacy of the committee.

We talk about "transparency" and how important it is...it's importance is you can take the edge off conspiracy crap. In this case....give a plausible (IMO) explanation of why the capital police may have been in de-escalation mode after the capital was breached and VIP's were safe.
