JBo Replacement? Jack Nolan (WashU)

It is not a foregone conclusion that Wieskamp will turn
pro after this season. He could get better with another
year at Iowa. He would be the MAN next season.
IMO returning is the thing that would be beat for JW.
He has shown some big time flashes in the last 10-12 games but consistently finishing drives and playing tough defense day in and day out has room to grow.
He seems to me to be a person that would do better learning in a more family environment than in the dog eat dog world of the NBA.

I would love it if Wieskamp would come back for one more year. He could continue to add muscle, which he needs and be the man, and put up huge numbers, but he could add strength and progress his game while getting paid. Expect he will choose to get paid.

Some say he's at least 6'1 or taller as and 8th grader. he could see additional growth before he gets to Iowa.
I see a 6-8 or 6-9 point guard in Iowa's future😮
That truly would be "white magic 2"
Jack was 5’10” three years ago. I would surprised if he’s not taller than 6’1”

Isnt another big more important considering Nunge's health?

Nunge is not a "big"...he is tall but lacks the physicality, jumping ability and quickness to be the "big". Nunge seems to like to hang out on perimeter...not inside as well.

K. Murray is more effective inside than anyone outside Garza. I'd like to see the freshman big develop in the off season...he has the size and strength to be a factor inside. There should be tons of options in the transfer portal as well....the portal maybe becoming the more important recruiting area than go after high schoolers...Fran needs to be looking there.

Perkins, Joe T., Ulis and twin Murray are guys I'm looking to have bigger roles next year . I just can't see how Fran can justify having Conner a starter.....his assist to turnovers ratio is meaningless when all you do is make safe telegraphed short passes...mostly to Garza who scores regardless of who fed him. Conner's inability to make wide open shots and even greater liability to drive the ball are a huge determent to this team.

Seriously? The guy is D3. I’d give him a walk on spot to help the scout team, but he would get destroyed in the Big Ten regularly. His shooting percentages are good but not insanely great. Imagine what they’d be with an nba caliber player guarding him. If Joe W leaves early, we need another shooter, but I’m pretty sure we can find an available transfer with D1 experience and skills. The mid-majors are stacked with them.
I know it's a long-shot, but Duncan Robinson played DIII before transferring to Michigan and having a great career there. Now starts in the NBA for the Heat.

It seems to me that the number one priority has to be a center but Iowa is going to need a shooter. Josh does not look anywhere close to game ready, and certainly not in shape for heavy minutes. I'd have him move in with Frank Garza and do whatever it is that Luka's been doing (if that were a real option).

We cannot count on Jack Nunge even returning to play. Not my favorite player but his trend line, although very uneven, was up. Jack was using his size to block shots and get rebounds. We at least had one big guy that could play some interior D. Now, coming off a second major knee injury, and he wasn't really nimble after the first knee injury, he may be so immobile that he cannot really play a meaningful role, assuming he rehabs well, etc... I know I wouldn't stand next to Jack in a lightning storm because that young man really does have shitty luck.

No Joe Dub and Iowa is down from three killers from three to just one proven shooter. I think both Murrays will be good shooters. As the season progressed Keegan started shooting flatter, which could be just tired legs, than earlier. But beyond Keegan who's going to make the threes? Not Connor and not Tony. Joey T shot OK as a freshman and will seem much improved next season but that's not Jordan or Joe Dub.

So its not just Jeannie that needs a shooter.
