Jirehl Brock Not Visiting IC

Fleck tells every recruit every visit if they don't commit on the spot they will lose their spot ( from more than one recruits mouth), KF tells each guy how many Iowa will take at that specific position in a class and once its filled its filled and Iowa tells the recruit they no longer have a committable offer, see the difference ?

It seems Kirk figured out he should tell him after him visiting 6 times.

You are right, Kirk does it the more correct way. LMAO

Have the guy visit 6 times and then tell him there is no spot. I hope Fleck never does this to a kid who has been there 6 times.

Just imagine if Fleck did this to a kid. Just imagine it.
He visited 6 times and had plenty of chances to commit, Fleck having a kid in 6 times ever happen He would force a commit or creep the kid out and Minnesota would get d

Imagine that when he visited he had a spot if he wanted it then someone committed before he visited again and they no longer needed a RB. Imagine it. Now imagine how dumb you have to be to not realize there is a difference...

Now imagine some DB who trademarks "row the boat" and puts an oar on a Minnesota Gopher helmet when an oar has nothing to do with the University of Minnesota. Imagine a coach that pressures kids into committing instead of telling them to do what is best for them. Imagine it. Imagine having a coach that acts like the head of a multi-level marketing scheme.

So let me get this straight.

You have Brock on campus 6 times and then Ferentz tells him there is no room.

And here I thought Fleck was supposed to be the douche!

Hmmm, let's see. Iowa gets to the point where they no longer have a scholly available. Kind of a "snooze, you lose". Iowa is always above board with their recruits. Take your time and decide but we are taking "x" many kids at your position.

Fleck, well, he can't seem to keep any legacy or big time local recruits. Plus he always does that rah, rah high school b.s..

See the difference?

Iowa cancelled because they were scared they couldn’t get him the heisman like Fleck already talked to JB about.

I take it you are 100% confident T. Goodson ends up a hawk?

What is the complaint here? The young man had an offer outstanding for well over a year. If he does not want to take it despite visiting campus numerous times, that is a decision he will have to live with. I give Iowa credit for not letting the kid waste an official visit. Good luck to him.

Everyone is just assuming the spot has been filled, while I understand Blair has encouraged this thought slightly, there is alot ot time between now and 7-3. What happens when "Bama" comes in and offers tgood? Maybe Tgood has already told Iowa its Iowa but that's risky in and of itself.

There is a risk with every commit they won't honor it. They obviously liked Goodson as much as they liked Brock. They got one of them. Not much else to say.

Exactly. Everything is a risk in recruiting until signing day. Goodson could get an SEC offer this fall. Brock could get his dream offer from Ohio State. Until they sign, nothing is for sure.

85 limit, x amount returning, y amount available to come in, 3 QBs already in the roster the eldest of which will be a junior.... I'm assuming you can put the rest together.

3 Qbs isn't very many. You take a QB in each class. That isn't even debatable. In addition, despite hoping that Mansell and/or Petras will be a good QB. There are no guarantees. 3 can turn into 2 really quick or even 1 really quick with a transfer and an injury.

Oh, thanks for the clarification.

I could have sworn I've seen it more than once that if Fleck puts the squeeze on and says others could get your spot.......well, that's horrible.

You are NOOOOO different than anyone else, people!

What is it that Fleck does wrong in recruiting again? Can someone help me out?
.....
Nothing fleck is not doing anything wrong in recruiting. People dont like admitting it but the there is not much difference between most power 5 schools. We need to quit bashing other schools head coaches. Unless of course i chose to do it. Lol

It really does not get us anywhere to bash other schools coaching staffs. Unless there are criminal crimes of course

The former, not the latter.

Numbers was the official reason Brock told me.
For some of these kids who draw the process out for months and months ... makes you wonder if some of them regret not verbaling sooner after someone takes their spot. Coaches can't wait around forever ... Anywho, good luck to Brock ... And, I like what Iowa has in the fold.

Yes, he did, and then KF got together with his staff and moved priorities around, and made room for him. All of that was confirmed to us by Waggoner if you're really still questioning it.

One of these days you will learn how to internet...one of these days.

It is debatable. Just because our staff has a way of doing this doesnt mean other staffs dont. This was a crap year for QBs and we had a chance to put a very dynamic set of RB in the program. You want to talk about could and ifs of weird crap happening to QBs, AIRBHG. The chance of a QB getting hurt compared to a RB is minimal.

In the day of transfers the one quarterback per class will soon become obselete. You will be able to skip one out of every four classes.

Some high school kids enjoy being recruited. If Brock visited 6 times and still hadn't made up his mind, he either enjoys the recruiting side or he is waiting/hoping for an offer from another school before he commits. KF is usually a straight shooter to prospects and to players who commit, so I trust KF did the right thing in this instance. We have had 4 star RBs who never produced, so I never get too worked up either way on RBs.

Orrrrrr...... he was told "dont commit until your really sure" (sound familiar?) And likely would have commit this weekend. You cant have your cake (no visits after a commit) and eat it too (you didnt commit fast enough)

I love how many people hang onto all of these QB & RB ratings so intensely. I read where a Ohio State coach claiming this is a down year for QB's. How many times in the NFL draft do teams pick QB's in the first round for them to fail in their projections. If the success rate of drafting QB's in the NFL is so poor, why do fans get so worked up about star ratings for QBs in college???

We are a team in desperate need of offensive weapons, position be dammed, the win over replacement for brock was much higher than Padilla. We can get a guy with Padillas skills most years. That is not the case for Brock.

Why do you think we can't get a guy with skills like Brock? What makes you want him so much other than his ranking? It is obvious the staff sees Goodson as equals as Brock. In addition, finding RBs hasn't been Iowa's problem. I would say WR has been the biggest problem for Iowa's offense for the last few years.

Do you realize they have 7 Rbs plus Goodson. They don't need two RBs. How do you know it was a crap year for QBs?

Why do you spend the energy on this? It's actually pretty simple. Iowa has reached their ceiling with the current staff. Pencil in 6-8 wins every year with average to above average recruiting classes for Capt Kirk. Minnesota has decided that type of ceiling is no longer acceptable and hired Fleck as a result or they would have just kept Claeys. The quality of recruit has already improved significantly just by looking at the offer lists of the kids Fleck is landing. They must be o.k. with the commit or we'll look elsewhere approach? Fleck's plan B's and C's were plan 'A' guys just within the past 5 years. The goal is to be the next Washington, not the 3rd best team in the West. Whether it's this year or next year so be it. 6 or 7 win seasons won't move the needle here anyway. They never have and the new AD knows this and a big part of the reason they reinvested in the entire athletic program and facilities.

As far as this recruit, they must have a 'silent verbal' locked in. Otherwise the recruit told them to pound sand. We'll be happy to take the other guy.

Looking at Minnesota’s class right now. Not seeing what’s so special about it or how it’s much better than iowas minus volume so far.

There is not 1 single 5 star QB in the nation. The highest rated qb is like the 40th best player overall, there are only a handful of 4 stars, normally more. It has been said by people in the business this is a weak class. To the point "it's like 2019 forgot about the QB position" has been said.

I'll go after the sacred cow here. We could have gone all sec and actually told some.of the juniors that are not going to play to look other places and opened up some spots. It doesnt feel good but other teams do it and we need more offensive talent.
