Joe Wieskamp Updates

The Maine Celtics are a G-League affiliate of, you guessed it, the Boston Celtics.

See story link in the tweet. Joe is expected to be in uniform for Maine’s game vs. Windy City tomorrow night at the Portland Expo.

From the story:

Wieskamp, a 6-6 guard, was a 2nd round (41st overall) selection by San Antonio in the 2021 NBA Draft. He has played in 39 career NBA games between San Antonio and Toronto, and 50 G League games between Austin, Raptors 905, Wisconsin, and Texas.

In his G League career, Wieskamp is averaging 13.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.

Joe's best bet to make money playing ball was overseas. For every guy like him who sticks in the league, there are a bunch more that don't.
He's only going to be 25 this summer; times not up yet. If, however, he isn't on a 2 way deal this fall the chances of ever making a regular NBA roster will diminish further.

Lolol.. like that has something to do with sticking in the league. Like some of those ass hats are charming individuals......

Well if you're the last roster spot and it's a toss up between two people I'm sure how they are in the locker room could sway a decision. It's not like he's a world beater.

I thought it was posted that Joe had substantial NBA earnings---like well North of $1 million in his few years because he has played on NBA rosters for short stints and the pay scale has gone way up for guys like him that get a smell of NBA. I don't think he necessarily would have made more overseas in that time frame and he can still go overseas right now if it made financial sense. Uthoff and Woodbury seem like the two Hawkeyes that have played a lot of G-league and not made NBA money.

Where he cashed in was his guaranteed deal with the spurs. They did end up cutting him but believe he had over $4MM guaranteed.

Didn't Tyler Cook just move to Australia to play basketball (What a Life!) Will he and Joe be playing in the same league?

Is there anywhere to watch Australia Pro League on TV? I’d definitely watch a game if both T-Cook and Weezy were playing in the same game.

Blueprint for Payton S as well. I've said all along that PS is not as athletic as Joe cool, and I just don't see anyway he ever sticks in the league. Theres NO way he could defend in the league. If he wants to play pro ball he'll need to pack his bags....
