JonBenet Ramsey

Just finished watching The Netflix series. Stupid cops did everything they could to try and frame the Ramsays. Shocking. CBS also complicit. Evidence is overwhelming the Ramsays had nothing to with it other than placing her in harms way with all the beauty pageant crap. The incompetent lead cop who later profited off her death with his best selling book should be in prison.

I admittedly haven't watched but a few questions... wasn't it confirmed by multiple experts the ransom note was likely written by Patsy?
How did the killer get in, snatch a girl from her bed, take her to a room where the parents apparently wouldn't think to look for her until the cops were there, rape, torture and kill her, then get back out of the house? If he was able to get out undetected, why not just take the girl out with him originally?
Just always seemed like too many oddities to not have been someone known to be in the house and/or part of the family.

These documentaries can really skew perception. One I watched had me 70% convinced it had to be the family. After reading up on everything I was more like 50/50. Now after this documentary I’m thinking maybe 15% chance it was the parents. The police work was awful in hindsight, but they arrive thinking she has been taken from the house, find the note (which was so strangely written) was from Patsy’s notebook, then Jon Benets body is found in the basement. I guess I can see why they zeroed in on the Ramseys, even though they probably didn’t do it with what is known now.

Killer came in from basement widow while Ramsays were out for dinner at friend’s house. Tased Jon Benet, police tried to ignore the taser marks. No expert was able to confirm ransom note was written by Patsy, in fact several said it definitely was not. House was somewhat of a maze and even the cops didn’t discover the body during their search. Dad and friend found her hours later after police suggested a second search. The rope used to kill her used a fairly complex knot which means the nine year old brother couldn’t have done it. A suitcase was placed by the basement window to climb out. Police said there was was no footprints in the snow but as pictures showed, there was no snow near the house. The oddity of the 118k ransom note which was about the same as his bonus was not that odd since the amount was in the financial documents that were on his desk. And no match from any of the Ramsay family of the DNA that was found in her panties. Incompetent cops led by a narcotic detective who looked silly in his deposition given years later. Cops leaked false information to reporters throughout the investigation.

^ Always thought the circumstances of how she was found was a set up. You conduct a first search but don’t find her laying in the middle of a room or turn the light on; you conduct a second search with a good friend so you are not alone when you find her?

I did think the top grade investigator cop who came in later made some great points and his theories were more likely.

Absolutely they can skew. But it really does a thorough job making its points, and there are so many people in this pointing out the numerous shoddy, sometimes downright incompetent police work. And the reasons the public was so confused are so common: an investigator who was a genius in his own mind has made his mind up, a journalist was all too willing to print police leaks by this guy to feed the media frenzy, and a lazy national media lapped it up in all its sensationalism. Meanwhile, the boring and old Denver detective, who was doing the boring work of actually getting the little facts right in order to eliminate theories, was getting closer to the truth than anyone. And it doesn’t seem he has a tie to this doc, nor is he interviewed (though I’m not completely done with it).

I think you are talking about the same investigator. Older guy at the time, with a reputation of solving hard cases?

That’s him. He pointed out the taser, snow, and suitcase issues.

Assuming this is all accurate and not the family/documentary slant it sure paints a different picture. But if it was all that obvious why would the police ignore it all?
Why would a killer make a ransom note for someone they've already raped and killed?
Someone in the family could have easily put a suitcase by the window, which the family knew was broken bc John supposedly did it quite a while before.

Now imagine the Ramsays are poor and the full thrust of the law is mounting them in such fashion—then realize there are thousands of people who have been railroaded and jailed by dumbass cops who lack humility while being armed with the public’s benefit of doubt.

Two major problems with the case:

The DNA evidence. The have one piece of DNA collected from the evidence, they failed to collect DNA from other evidence and are refusing to reexamine evidence for new DNA with better technology. The cops have been using this evidence to disqualify some pretty good suspects on this evidence alone with the exception of the Ramsays.

Police bias. I have seen this so often watching documentaries. Once a cop has made a decision on who they THINK did it, you will have a better chance of persuading Biden voters to vote Trump and vice versa. And god forbid you are in some idiot’s crosshairs.
