Josh Dix

I checked a few NBA mock drafts a couple of days ago, and so far I haven't seen Josh on any of them. Maybe next year?
He's not even on the top 100 board I saw. While Stirtz is listed as #35. Top 2nd round picks look to get $5-6M guaranteed. Stitz has April to decide if he will declare for the draft or play at Iowa.

I think the hard sell for the "Fran guys" is with Fran its was very you get it, you take it. Very much just freedom to do whatever with the ball in your hands and no reprecussions. See Paytons play these last three years. Ben has already talked at length about shot selection, playing within the system, and how this style leads to better opportunities at Offensive rebounding, and getting your defense set after either a make, or rotating back when the other team gets the ball. Basically he's the "anti Fran", in terms of his approach.
And that offense leads to a lot of standing around watching someone else trying to create something. It’s fine when your “stars” are shooting well. Not so fine when they aren’t.

In terms of any of the guys in the portal - Come back if you want to play for McCollum. But you collectively went 7-13 in the Big Ten this year. So, you’re not irreplaceable.

Would disagree. Fran ran a great motion offense that was the envy of a lot of coaches.

Jbo only shot .08% better from three than Brock for his career. That may shock some of you that watch games with your feelings. Outside free throws jbo is not statistically better than Brock and ps Brock averaged less turnovers than jbo.

By this logic, Taylor McCabe is easily a better player than Caitlin Clark. This may shock you, if watch games with your feelings.

Career 3FG%:
McCabe .421
Clark .377

Career FT%:
McCabe .850 PUSH
Clark .858 PUSH

Turnovers per 40:
McCabe 1.3
Clark 5.3

I see Career 33.7% 3pt percentage for Zach McCabe along with 76% FT. If he'd shot 42% from 3 for his career he would be remembered more fondly for that stat vs his next best career move of wrestling a MSU spartant on the court.

The other thing to keep in mind with Josh is his very strong mid-range game.

As I understand it, McCollum is more of a layup or three-pointer kinda guy.
As he should be. If your style is to milk the shot clock and be efficient, then layups and 3s will result in a more efficient offense typically.

No doubt the cupboard is bare as with most programs turning over their coach (see Indiana). There's no argument about that. But your quote was "Fran left the cupboard more bare than Lick". The players left and decommitted after he was fired.

The roster turnover in MBB is nuts.
This. The players left on their own, and their not going to play at Penn for Fran either. This is about $$ as much as anything....

Yep. The cupboard is indeed bare right now, but as you said, it's due mostly to coaching turnover and today's portal environment, in this instance.

In Lickliter's case, there wasn't much talent to lose in the first place. Not even close to the same situation.

AND each year he lost his leading scorer because they didn't want to play for the guy, and he was going to be back.

Of course it's a different rule set now, but that doesn't change the fact that BM is taking over an empty cupboard, which is all I said. That's the only thing that really matters. I think it's fair to say the cupboard is more bare now than when Fran took over unless Dix stays. Arguing the why's of this doesn't change anything.
Stupid post if you really think about it. You can't even compare as it's apples to oranges.

Kansas is actually considering paying a player 2 mill that disappears every time the opposing defense throws some serious defense at them? For half of that I could be totally ineffective.
According to people in KU forums the rumor of 2M is false. I think some of these numbers just get thrown out there and people run with it. That said, I do think Dix is a nice player. If you can’t tell by my name I’m a KU fan through and through but have always followed the Hawks. 1 daughter graduated from Iowa, another a freshman there now. I personally want Dix to stay at Iowa and play for McCollum. Competed against Ben in high school and really want him to kill it in Iowa City. Even if Dix ends up at KU, Iowa has a bright future and made the right hire IMO.

What jbo got was 3senior seasons to pad stats and plenty of pt due to his union card.
Sounds like you don’t watch the games at all and just look at misleading stats. For instance Caitlin Clark shoots lower 3% than Bueckers but who is the better shooter? Who takes the deeper 3s that spread the defense out? Who shoots more contested 3’s? Honestly terrible argument by you

No idea on Creighton today, but have seen some reports Dix and Conwell from Xavier, formerly at Indiana St, will be at IU tomorrow. No idea if accurate.
If true, the “close to home” aspect must not be as important to Dix as was initially reported.

Money talks.

Yep! It's pretty bonkers that people on here are criticizing Fran McCaffery's offense!
Ummm because it was predicated entirely on chucking up shots at will and only worked when the other team didn’t play defense or Iowa shot extraordinarily well from outside.

If we had a better team they wouldn’t have been able to double Dix like they did. Kansas will have that. Hoiberg and Robbie Hummel are very high on Dix for good reasons.
