Fran kind of gave it away in his presser as well. Said there would be someone leaving most likely, AND he's actively seeking post help via the portal or whatever means available. Obviously Rebraca will be back, and young Mulvey shows some promise, but needs seasoning and PT. Josh is an an interesting study to watch. He has moments where you can see the potential, but he seems to have no self confidence. Watching him on the floor he hangs his head much of the time and just doesn't carry himself like he feels like he belongs. He seems like a good team mate though so hope for the best for him, if not at Iowa then where ever he lands.
If Big O leaving causes Fran to work harder for an experienced big in the portal, I think this is a very positive move. Good luck to Josh!
Thought he had a soft hands and quick feet. I was holding out hope he'd have a great offseason of conditioning because I think there is something there. That's too bad
Hes got a ton of potential physically, but doesnt have the drive or tenacity. For many people, that comes with age. I hope he flourishes somewhere. He gave the team some decent minutes this year when needed.
Josh mentioned during the year that he had a physical issue that may not have allowed him to continue playing. I wonder if that is causing him to step back?
I have no way of knowing if this is true, but I've heard it a few times that Josh developed long-COVID symptoms this summer after he caught making it really difficult for him to stay in shape. I'd assume with his weight he probably has to monitor that stuff extra closely.
I’ve heard similar from someone reasonably close to both the men’s and women’s programs.
Definitely would explain some of his conditioning issues.

Getting long-term limiting COVID damage at Josh's age would be the height of shitty luck. Given his size and weight Josh may have had some latent, or at least undiagnosed heart condition, that made his heart the muscle Covid attacked.
That is not an unusual progression for younger people with severe or long term damage from Covid. Dear God let's hope not.

That’s unfortunate. He had potential certainly. Wish him the best. Hope we can snag some help in the transfer portal.
Too bad. I saw some glimpses that looked promising toward the end of the season. I had no idea he had Covid. The long time effects of Covid is still being researched. I hope he makes it okay. Good luck Josh.
