Can't see him staying another year. Dude has been quietly one of the best defensive backs in college football before the game and then he just puts on a clinic against Ohio St. Will be hard for him to turn down the NFL. This speaks volumes to the factory Parker has built at Iowa. Really impressed with what he has created at Iowa. High School DB's take notice.

Nothing quiet about his game today.

I've seen quite a few posts about wanting to see Jackson stay, but CB is absolutely a position in which we can afford to have a player like Jackson leave. It looks good to recruits and, with Rugamba, Hankins, Ojemudia, and Boswell all waiting in the wings, the position should still be a strength next year.

Plus, we'll have DJ Johnson coming in next year, and my guess is that he either red shirts or competes for serious PT.

How cool would it be to say that we've had two of the last three Thorpe award winners? That's a recruiting pitch and a half. Looks like a realistic possibility as of now

He saw what happened when Des came back and his stock plummeted. If he’s a projected 1sr or 2nd rounder, take the money and run.

Jackson has been on campus for 4 years so he may be in a position to graduate this spring or very close. We can't know for sure what round King would have been taken had he come out, but I don't think it would have been dramatically higher. The NFL was always not going to like King's speed and size. Jackson is 6-1 with better measurables than King. Agree that f he gets the 1st or 2nd round grade his best option is to go get paid.

Even though there look to be corners behind him that could step in, it would be a big loss for next year if he left. If legit pro personnel evaluators tell him he's a second rounder or higher, he should go now and take that guaranteed money.

I'd love to have him back but I support the players and if he has a shot to go he needs to go. He's been patient and put in his time here for us. Getting drafted puts another feather in our cap to able to get more DB recruits and as others have pointed out we have several players waiting and some talent coming in. The Hankins kid was also a pretty highly recruited player and has played some spot duty this season. May the best player win the job next year if JJ decides to go.

The NFL is the 'not for long' league so strike while the iron is hot. He comes back next year and teams pull a 'King' and not throw on his side at all limiting his impact. Rumgamba had better be ready as he's going to see even more action the remaining games.

Huge props to JJ and what he has done this year coming in with zero accolodaes.

Yup, won't blame him at all if he's gone. Parker will just plug in the next star, no worries :) Hope things are working out for that kid who decided Arkansas was better fit for his NFL future.

Jackson didn' even make the Thorpe watch list did he?

I was on the border line of him staying vs going to the NFL before the game. No question in my mind now.

The good news is that he not only threw his hat into the ring for the Thorpe award, He brought his chair, put his hat on and sat down at the front of the line.

Money game. National TV. Opponent was seen as superior with 5* athletes.

Leader in the clubhouse at the very least!

A surprising stat ESPN put up yesterday was that Jackson leads the FBS in pass deflections. I didn’t know that.

I hope the Colts draft him. He's ready for NFL now.

Anyone remember Castillo and Shada as our shut down corners? The CB recruiting has improved dramatically over the years. Speivey, King and now jackson are examples of overlooked studs. I have to give Phil Parker a lot of credit. I've heard people say CB is one of the hardest positions to evaluate High School Talent and having a Phil Parker is giving us an edge.

Jackson seems like he is gone. Looking back on Clayborn and King coming back and Iowa under performing, take the money and run. The advertising is good for recruiting.

King dropped because of his height and nothing more. Jackson @ 6'1 is more in line as to what NFL Teams are looking for in their CB's. the best thing is that Ojemuda and Rugumba makes for a solid bookends at CB

maybe its wishful thinking, but Ferentz seems to recruit high character young men who put a lot of stock in graduating. It always surprises me when a Hawkeye leaves early.

If you put any stock into Pro football focus, Jackson is a man amongst boys. Before yesterday's game, he had the highest pro grade in the game. Also higher than anyone in the Bama vs lsu game, and Bama has who many feel, the best defensive back in the country.

He didn't make the semifinalist list for Thorpe, but is semifinalist for Bednarik.
I don't understand how this is possible. How can you be up for the best defensive player at any position, but not at your own position?
