Juan Harris rating?

Harris is going to need to remake his body in college. He's the opposite of the undersized LB who becomes at DT. It's not going to be pleasant for him.

So a national recruiting rating service drops a player from a solid 4star rating down to a 2star rating without any apparent intervening factor (other than a verbal commitment) ----> that tells you just about all you need to know about the reliability of these commercial rating services.

Well, he needs an outsized chip on his shoulder for him to even know it's there. I think going from a 4 star to a 2 star will do that. I've seen this kid move when he wants to...drops some bad weight and he could be a really really good player...He plays kind of mean.

I wouldn't worry about his "star" rating the kid has 12 offers from big programs, I feel the kid is going to be a great one, had a lot of weight but moves quick for his size,

Carl Davis had drop a few lbs too. Harris knows the plan. He'll do it.

There is a difference between a few pounds and needing to drop the weight of a small person. Davis was probably 310 or so and if remember he just had to replace bad weight with good weight he didn't have to additionally lose 100 pounds. He dropped in the rankings because with that size he should have dominated small school football in Iowa and he didn't most likely because he has too much weight. Hopefully it something he takes seriously.

I get all that. But I also know kids and families read this stuff. I don't want to be the constant Debbie Downer on here. We have a ton of those guys who can tell you why you can't do things. I'm not gonna be that guy if I can help it.

Juan has one person who will make or break his career. Him. And he's coming to a school that can help him get it done.

And IIRC, I think he only has about 30 lbs more to drop than Carl. But I could be wrong but didn't Carl drop 70 lbs?

Davis came to Iowa at about 320-330. Harris is at 400. I am not being negative but that is why his rating went down is because his weight is too high and also his performance on the field wasn't the greatest and I bet it has a lot to do with how much weight he is carrying. I hope the kid can get it get it together because he has a lot of potential and I would bet Iowa could get it out of him. But who knows if he even ends up here there is still a long way to go till signing day and I am not counting on him being a hawk until he actually signs.

I thought Davis was 370. In fact, I just checked. I was WAY off. He was 6'5" 300. (Class of 2010)

But you're correct David, about his rating and for sure he needs to get the pounds down. And I'm really pulling for him as a Hawkeye. Didn't mean to come off has self righgeous or snarky.

Without a doubt, committing early to a non-blue blood will negatively effect your rating. It's science.

Having coached against parker hesse's class at waukon and juan harris in recent years. Waukon had 4 guys in hesse's grade that should have been rated higher than juan 3 stars is actually appropriate.

Harris playing both ways took the wind right out of him. When he's not tired he has the most explosive first step I've ever seen for someone of his stature. I heard he's down to about 380 lbs. Long ways to go but it's a start. I think Iowa does a great job developing their players and will turn this kid into a very productive run stuffer.

Does anybody follow him on Twitter? I heard he called out some Iowa OL recruits... Not good

This is how rivals works:

commits to Iowa = 3 star
commits to Michigan = 4 star

Any questions?
Plus I heard Eno is down to a 1 star since Iowa is on top for him currently.
Maybe Harris is what he is, a "project" that could maybe be good, with a boat load of work.
Harris is a 3 star a commit anywhere.
