Jun 22 Carton update: Kansas (especially), Duke & N Car are on his mind; decision sometime in Sep?

So, the consensus seems to be that Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, UNC, Louisville & MSU are all dirty programs led by sleezebag coaches that likely pay players and don't make them go to class or follow the rules. They also have blue-blood status, national fame and national championships.

But, also that Iowa, a school with limited high-level success an no national reputation, should be able to compete with those schools on the recruiting front, without cheating, if only they didn't have these poor recruiters on the coaching staff.

Got it. ;)

The lack of payoffs and female escorts might inhibit our recruiting slightly with some players and their fathers.

It will be interesting to see what happens; I still think Duke, North Carolina and Kansas are in the mix and that a decision won't be made until September. Keep an eye especially on Bill Self/Kansas. Why do I say that?

The article in the OP gives some clues:

* Duke and North Carolina haven't contacted Carton, but they've told people within his circle that they'll watch him play during the July evaluation periods. Kansas head coach Bill Self has remained in contact with and recruited Carton since coaching him at the U18 National Team Trials.

"Out of those schools, they all do one thing: They win," Carton told the Register of the new programs looking at him. "They help you get to your future. They’re all great academic schools. That’s definitely something to look into. I feel like I have high interest for those types of universities, so it’s definitely something that will spark my interest."

* Carton said he's "most definitely" interested in visiting the newer schools (Duke, North Carolina, Kansas) showing interest.

* Carton's dad told the Register his son will likely participate in Chris Paul's Rising Stars Camp in Greensboro, North Carolina, on August 10-12.

* Of the new schools reaching out, Carton has had the most contact with Kansas — particularly with Self.
