Looking for top finish from Iowa Red - team pretty loaded. They are #1 seed in Pool D. Ohio and Michigan also in that pool.

Edit top,, as in top 4 or 5.

Track is sort of tricky with embedded frames, etc... start here. Then just click on the brackets link, then choose Pool D on the dropdown on the left side..

Some great match ups at this tourney.

Freestyle - Trent Hilger (Michigan Blue) over Carter Isley (Iowa Red) Dec 3-2

The Gold/Silver bracket is going to be tough!

That's that signature win he needed. That's big time and might have saved the dual. Go Max!

Happel lost a tough one but that's a match he can definitely win. He was in on him repeatedly. Freeman is a stud in his own right.

Agree - big win for Max - Embree was #9 @ 170.. but #3 JR, so he's a top 3-5 kid next year rankings

Happen=overrated. Guy that beat him (Freeman) was ranked 14th last year at 132 and is a year younger than Carter. Oh and Freeman just got stuck in the first period by some kid from Minnesota. Happen is going to struggle mightily in D1. Bring on the denial.

While I'm not all in Happel that's not fair. Freeman has gotten considerably better.

He took 2nd at uww juniors. He has wins over Paul Glynn and Markus Timmons over the last few weeks. The kid is good.

I'm not all in on Happel either but you forgot to mention that Freeman got pinned up at 145.

Everybody is good at this level. With Happels recent results against solid (not elite) guys being what they are it doesn't appear that he's ever going to be an elite D1 guy. He appears to have potential similar to a Logan Ryan. Not that they're terrible, obviously talented wrestlers. I just don't see the offensive output needed to compete at the highest level. Happel was touted as the "big gun" on Iowa's dual team. Underwhelming. Not looking like he could be a D1 AA in a couple years. Would love to be wrong.

Aren't you just the eternal optimist. There have been plenty of guys that have lost a freestyle match at the HS level who ended up at the top of the podium. Why don't we give the kid a chance to get in the room before he is declared a bust?
