RoTJ was not directed by Lucas.
I thought the movie was really good.
My biggest issue was the casting of Kylo Ren. This is, I assume, the primary antagonist for these three movies, the big scary bad guy.
Then he takes off his helmet and he's an Andy Samberg-looking dork. Seriously? The guy is a dork, not a badass.
Then he gets mad and goes all Space Balls Rick Moranis on computer equipment.
My question is, if Luke is like the most important guy in the galaxy, and able to sense disturbances in the force, use telepathic communication, etc., then how come he's just hanging out in the middle of nowhere while the entire galaxy is falling apart? Like, maybe he could manage to get his old ass into the middle of the fight and do some stuff and not rely on some punk kid, an ex-storm trooper, and that fossil Han Solo to save everyone.
The chick is hot, though.
It's probably because he doesn't trust himself. Went to the dark side briefly when he fought Vader in ROTJ. He also failed in his training of Kylo......
Because the droid doesn't have human tendencies that can be exploited through torture. The droid will lock that up and make the 1st order take it apart if they find it.
Came across a couple interesting tidbits that might shed some light on where the whole Kylo Renn thing is going.
Apparently Palpatine (Darth Sidious) was forced to kill his parents by Darth Plagueis when he was his apprentice. Made his decent into the dark side complete. (looked this up on wookiepedia)
Since folks think this snope guy might be Darth Plagueis I think there is a good chance we see Kylo being ordered to kill his mother to "complete his training".
Kind of wondered why Kylo was sent out by Snope being only half trained....might be because Snope knew Kylo couldn't give himself completely to the dark side until he offed Solo which was probably the easier of the two parents for Kylo to kill. He already had abandonment issues with his pops ect....
Since it's a very tall order to replace the baddest villain in movie history (Vader) I can't think of a better story line to accomplish this than by Kylo going over totally to the dark side and killing his mother in the process. That scene would have a deeper impact on audiences than the death of Han Solo IMO.
If this were to happen....I don't think Kylo stops there...he probably turns his hate and new found power on Snope. Takes him out and then sets his sights on Rey in the last installment.....
Heard it here first![]()
My point is, if they didn't want it found, they should have taken it out of the droid. That's all.
And again...I prefaced this with "I'm not usually that guy and it's not a big deal", and I stand by it. It was just something that stuck out to me as they were running for their lives. Hell, they left the droid to fend for itself most of the time, rolling through the desert. And that's another thing...he sure did roll over that sand pretty easily. Every try to wheel a cooler onto the beach? Damned near impossible!
So Rey is Luke's daughter, right?
It's not like rolling a cooler at the beach. It would be similar to rolling a ball on sand which isn't difficult. My point is, if they didn't want it found, they should have taken it out of the droid. That's all.

I liked the movie, but Kylo is the weakest of the Dark villians.
I actually like Rey's character and think it is strong enough to carry the rest of the trilogy.
Carrie Fisher's botox face showed all of the emotion of Dr. Zaius from the original Planet of the Apes.
Here's an interesting take on the story of kylo Ren

I kind of think Ren's bad guy was intentionally "weak". He still has conflict which prevents him from seeing his full potential. I'm betting this trilogy will be as much about the rise of Kylo Ren as a villian as it is about anything else.
Another way to look at it, by Jedi Luke was a badass, but he was a whiney little b*tch in the first movie.
I just saw the movie today and the same things went through my head as well. Even if Kylo was still just a novice with his sword, he would have destroyed a couple of people that just picked one up for the first time. It should have been over in a couple of seconds. Phasma? Hey I'm a CO in the The First Order, let me simply drop the shields to the entire planet because you asked.SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, just saw it. It was really good in a lot of ways but also really bad as well. Normally I can overlook a movies flaws and enjoy it for what it is. That being said, it was a lot of little things that really bugged me. For example, how ridiculously easy it was for them to get the shield for the entire planet shut down and captain Phasma just turning it off for them. I'm not sure what the point of Phasma even was in this movie, completely worthless character. Then the light saber fight scene with Kylo, the dude is trained to fight with a light saber and two people with zero light saber experience are able to not only fight him effectively but the chick actually defeats him. I know he was injured but that shouldn't off set their zero saber experience. The plot of the movie just felt extremely lazy and it felt like they just took a new hope and threw in a few wrinkles. What I did like were the characters, especially Finn. I would say it is much better than episodes 1-3, but not better than 4-7. Overall I enjoyed the movie and will watch it many more times.
Just watched it and yes. I did like it though.I liked the movie as well.
I was a first generation Star Wars kid. The original came out when I was 10. I was hooked.
After I watched it, I got the feeling I had just watched a slightly different version of the original. Did anyone else feel that way?

This was a little bit of an issue for me too at first, just because I was used to Darth Vadar walking tall and smashing people. The thing is, he's obviously not fully trained and still has a little bit of that scared feel to him. I think you'll see him progress through these movies into an extremely ruthless killer. At least that's my hope. He's too sniveling right now to be a true Sith Lord.

Rey was being trained as a Jedi? I thought it very clearly established she'd been abandoned very early in life. Far too early to be in rigorous training given the one shot we see of her at a young age.Dude was struggling with the pull of the light side early in the movie, never finished his jedi training, just kills his dad, then takes a cross-bolt shot from chewie in the ribs (which no one else in the movie survived) and you're complaining that he wasn't 100% in his fight 5 minutes later?
Besides, we're going to find out that Rey was one of the younglings that was being trained by Luke, that's why she picked up the force so quickly. So it all makes sense if you don't try to hard to see holes.
