Just saw Star Wars

People have speculated that she is Ben's twin sister based off of the book series - which is not being used for the movies. Which would make her Leia and Han's daughter. That seems unlikely to me as Han didn't seem to care when Ben was taking her away, only Finn was upset.
Others have speculated that she's so strong with the force because she's Luke's daughter. (with an unknown mother) I hope that's not true either.
Well, you can hope for it, but that doesn't mean producers won't go for the popular plot line.

Am I the only one who thought of a Trump rally when the general was announcing the end of the Republic as the FIrst Order prepared to fire their giant, planet killing weapon?

This was a little bit of an issue for me too at first, just because I was used to Darth Vadar walking tall and smashing people. The thing is, he's obviously not fully trained and still has a little bit of that scared feel to him. I think you'll see him progress through these movies into an extremely ruthless killer. At least that's my hope. He's too sniveling right now to be a true Sith Lord.

He reminds me of Anakin in 2 and 3 before he murdered Mace Windu and the younglings...just the dark side version of him at that age.

In a way its very much like Abrams Star Trek movies; They look great and are well done, but stay within safe and familiar story lines.

I like the speculation that she is the offspring of Luke and a daughter of Obi Wan. Some people with too much time on their hands have pointed out that she fights with circular and defensive style similar to him. Would also explain her ability to do Jedi stuff with no training. Whatever her lineage, she's entertaining in several different ways...

I think she is Leia's daughter, but Han is not the father. When she comes off of the Falcon and sees Leia for the first time, they look at each other for a long time and then hug for a long time. Han and Leia split and the guy at the beginning that has the map and gets killed was watching over Rey as was the guy giving out the rations that had the Falcon.

Seemed to me the guy giving out the rations was only looking out for himself.

I think the girl is Luke and Leias incestuous creation. Just got lucky there was no disfigurement. The force probably prevented that

She did know everything about the Millennium Falcon while stating that she had never flown it before and finishes Han's sentences.

Another theory is that Luke and Leia have another brother due to a grammar mistake (or it's on purpose) in the opening scrawl. link to mistake: http://mic.com/articles/131224/ther...r-a-big-surprise-for-luke-and-leia#.RhuCJp4ZR
Seems unlikely that there'd be a mistake in the opening scene of one of the biggest moves in history but you never know.

That's definitely a grammar mistake. A very easy one to make.

I agree that it's an easy mistake to make,, and that's probably all it is, but still very surprising considering the magnitude of the opening crawl of Star Wars.

That's one of the dumber stretches of logic that I've ever seen.

Someone has WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much time on their hands to come up with something like that.

I think that was the turning point for him, which is why they felt that Han had to die. He obviously still isn't fully trained.

Yeah, Abrams and Adam Driver have both said that in this trilogy we get to see the development of the villain as well as the hero, whereas in the original trilogy the villain was fully formed.

My only question though is, if Ren isn't fully trained, and if he can be beaten in a lightsaber duel by a novice (even if she is strong with the force and had some training as a youngster) then where was Luke when his academy was attacked? Because the Luke from Jedi should have been able to handle the Ren from Awakens easily.

But I don't want to nit pick. I loved the movie and am very excited for both episode 8 and for Rogue One.

I am positive there is some twist in Rey's lineage. Leia has the Force inside her, but she never manifested/trained to utilize them. It's too easy to have Rey be Luke's daughter. There needs to be a twist.

I was wondering out loud with a co-worker about the lack of technological advancement in the 30 years since the end of #6. The Millennium Falcon is apparently the fastest ship in the galaxy even though it hasn't flown in years. Tie fighters and X-wings are still around. Nobody has figured out no matter how big and powerful of a death star you shouldn't leave an unguarded back door open.

The U.S Air Force still fly F-16's and F-15's....they both came out in the 1970's...been upgraded several times since. The X-Wings and Tie Fighters are different from episodes 4-6. X-Wings have different intakes and look sleeker.
