JWar v Cash W -Who ya got?

Really wasn’t close the last time they wrestled. I expect more of the same.

The match I watched at wrestle offs was close between these two. 3-3, Wilcke intentionally released J War & Warner won 4-3.

For one... Why does PSU want all the top guys? Iron sharpens iron. Also, PD3 and Wilcke at 184 and 197 probably score more points at NCAA than Wilcke and Warner.
The thing that needs to made clear is - which wrestler wrestles at what weight. Both ($ and PD3) are tweeners (between 84 and 97). 2 guys getting 8th as AAs won't mean that much to team scores.

Sorry, I can't keep up. I thought he wanted to go 197 now.

I saw Warner talking to someone that looked like his dad after the finals match. He looked pretty upset and dad seemed to be talking him off the ledge. Some friends and I were talking about that and wondered when was the last time Warner ever lost three matches in a row? I’m sure it’s been years. Brunner and Brucki are no slouches. Both won 3a 195 lb titles but Warner is better. What those two guys did have is more strength. Brucki is a tank!

And this is exactly where you need a RS year. I think Warnerov is an AA this year, but there’s clearly no reason to wrestle him as Cash has shown he has what it takes. Give Warnerov a year to build muscle and grow into the weight class, and look out. I fully expect him to be a much different wrestler by next season. Same great skills, drive, and toughness, but with more horsepower, which will make all the difference for him.

As we all know, a disappointing loss (or losses) can propel a wrestler on to greater heights than he might have reached without it/them. I think this may be the case for both Spencer and Jacob coming out of this weekend.

Nothing spurs an athlete on to strive harder than the sting of bitter defeat. These kids are both outstanding talents and will most certainly grow from this experience. I expect very different outcomes in future rematches with the guys who beat them this weekend.

Well said. As has been stated right now Jake can go with anyone (minus Moore probably) when fresh and 100% dialed in. He beat #2 seed Smith and was up 3-1 on Wilke before the call got overturned.I think the grind got to him and he got tired at the end of the Wilke match. After that he looked physically drained and his focus was not there either. Both Brunner and Brucki had a good bit or horsepower on him. You could see he was very disappointed, especially with them being fellow Illinois kids. He needs to keep his head up, get stronger physically and mentally. it is all part of the developmental process. I felt bad for Turk as well, these guys put a lot of work in and when it does not turn out how they want it is tough. You could see the hurt with Vince after getting pinned by Van dbag from Rutgers.

Warner had a tough end to his day all around, but he's still the best 197 lber we've got and on most days he's one of the best in the country hands down. And right now we don't need him, so it's all good. Congrats to Cash Wilcke for a nice showing, he got what he earned, and we need more days like this from him as well.

Warner needs to keep his head up. The entire Hawk fan base is behind him and his future. Lots of learning going on and he’s definitely the future at 97. No disrespect to Cash it’s just my opinion. Hopefully the coaches will actually have a plan next year bc both have to be in the line up. Cash 84, Warner 97. Determine it early and let’s get a title.
