💯It’s time for Kirk to retire.
This is just so asinine. The offense is going to be exactly the same.
I’m just so tired of it all. Ferentz fatigue doesn’t do justice to how most of us are feeling.

Kirk is the most predictable guy in the world and it's unbelievable that people keep expecting something different. That’s just routine kirk talk, nothing controversial there really. it gives me a kick to imagine instead that he said-
There are certain things that are just completely negotiable. Ball security is really not that critical. So this year onwards we aren’t going to stress over turnovers.
And having three segments involved in the game is old news. We want to stop being mindful of what helps the defense, what hurts the defense. Instead I’ll be asking our offense to be carefree like butterflies on a spring afternoon. Being Mindful of field position is another notion that belongs in the age of dinosaurs. My message to Tim is Pedal to the metal. Phil and Levar can fend for themselves.
The dominant defense that gave up 90+ pts to the three teams they played with a pulse? Kirk is still under the impression that he can beat everyone 9-6, which can work for a while in the crappy big ten west but against the top 5-6 teams in the conference you have to score 20-30 pts to have a chance. All the rules favor the offense and he’s thinking it’s a race to double digits. You mean do what every team that's had a dominant D has done for the last 150 years? Sounds like a good starting point to me
And wins over 4 teams that ended the year with a winning record. You know they won 10 games last year.
Thank you.And this is why I have Ferentz Fatigue. I'm ready to watch an exciting brand of football.
Asinine; this hire is a waste of money as Kirk will ruin this guys career like he did to his own son.In spite of his slippery hands I still expect Deacon to see the majority of snaps this year if Cade gets hurt again.
Kirk Ferentz seems very comfortable with Deacon Hill, and that goes a long way.
Unfortunately.
Hey Guy - Shut. The. Fu*k. Up.Kirk is the most predictable guy in the world and it's unbelievable that people keep expecting something different.
He flat out told us back in December what we could expect out of the offense going forward. Yet somehow the boner for offense prevailed, as a large contingent of the fan base still expected certain changes that had no chance of happening. Not only did fans not listen to Kirk, but they were in uproar when they didn't get certain things that they were told they weren't getting. What world do these people live in? It's truly unbelievable.
Kirk has a formula that very consistently wins a lot of games. He has the defense and special teams at a place where anything they can get from the offense is a free-roll. Most programs in the country would kill to be in that position.
Kirk is who he is. Just like all of us are who we are. Yes, he wants improvements out of the offense. But no major changes are coming and Iowa will continue to win a lot of games. Either jump on board and support the way Iowa goes about being a damn good football program, or get lost
It doesn't matter what the rules favor. Points prevented have the same value as points scored. The dominant defense that gave up 90+ pts to the three teams they played with a pulse? Against a weak schedule and never had a chance of winning anything of consequence because of the offense. Yes, the defense will continue to be good and they'll be able to win against average teams. We'll never be able to take the next step while KF is still here though. I'm convinced of that. The man shows no willingness to adapt. You know they won 10 games last year.
C'mon man. As much as you might disagree with him, he's got as much right to express an opinion as you do.Hey Guy - Shut. The. Fu*k. Up.
Yeah, one of the most successful seasons in Hawkeye history will just exhaust a fan. After the Deacon Hill thing, he just sounds ridiculous.
I'm so tired of Kirkball. Can't end soon enough.
Saban says the same thing, I’m sure he’s a dipshit in your moronic eyes also??Complimentary football means no scoring and key the defense on the field
Just keep eating up those cupboard crumbs. What do you think: Iowa over or under 5 pts. vs OSU next season?Yeah, one of the most successful seasons in Hawkeye history will just exhaust a fan.
Just who is it that sounds ridiculous?
Not gonna happeni cannot wait for the KF era to end.
If someone on Beth's wish list comes available next year, she's gotta go get him.
Burn minutes....try to get 2 or 3 points when the other guys screw up....maybe 7 if we get really lucky.Kirk what is your offensive philosophy?
Support the defense.
Going three and out on most possessions or refusing to pull a QB turnover machine is not "supporting the defense".You mean do what every team that's had a dominant D has done for the last 150 years? Sounds like a good starting point to me
92-0, Mary.Yeah, one of the most successful seasons in Hawkeye history will just exhaust a fan.
Just who is it that sounds ridiculous?
Kirk, lol. For him, ball security is only important for running backs. QBs can turn it over all day long and still get a full gusto of support from Kirk.Kirk is quoted "There are certain things that just aren't negotiable." to Gary's question. So does this mean no throwing the ball over the middle, no receivers lined up outside the hashmarks? What exactly
Then Kirk says "Ball security is a must " or something like that. Well what OC makes up a game plan to have turnovers. None. I dont get that Kirk answer.
If this is such a winning formula then it would be copied by other schools. It doesn't matter what the rules favor. Points prevented have the same value as points scored.
It's easier to prevent points than it is to score points. Preventing points is also more consistently executed than scoring points.
If anyone is interested in challenging these truths, there are a many better places to try it than at Iowa.
If you don't think Iowa's defense is a trump card in the deck we'll have to disagree
Why can’t that formula include having a solid offense that controls the ball, takes time off the clock, sustains drives, and puts points on the board. As good as our defense is, having an offense that could at least sustain drives makes it more likely you are going to win.Kirk is the most predictable guy in the world and it's unbelievable that people keep expecting something different.

Don't try to change their minds here, it's a negative thread. You know they won 10 games last year.
One of the most successful seasons? Many would not only argue your post, but laugh at it. The 2023 season was garbage. Four losses...three were complete disasters. Not to mention Iowa was the joke of the nation with its OC.Yeah, one of the most successful seasons in Hawkeye history will just exhaust a fan.
Just who is it that sounds ridiculous?
Sorry dude but this last season is chock full of nothingness. For reference I think the 2008 season at 8-4 was more successful than this one.Yeah, one of the most successful seasons in Hawkeye history will just exhaust a fan.
Just who is it that sounds ridiculous?
I would argue against just about everything you've said hereIf this is such a winning formula then it would be copied by other schools.
It used to be this way in the 1950s
Even Nick Saban adjusted his coaching philosophies, especially when it came to the offense. He had somewhat similar view as Kirk until he discovered it wouldn’t work anymore.
Kirk can’t even run his vision the way he wants because of how ****ing bad the offense and scheme is. He seems to be doubling down as well.
It’s not a formula for success. It’s a formula of insanity. It’s driving everyone who watches Iowa football (minus a handful) bonkers because it really does defy all logic and reason. The stats show this. Iowa is an outlier by running their program this way.
It doesn’t have to be this way and it shouldn’t. It’s a football game and one that should have some form of entertainment to it. Not one man’s fetish and attachment to a forgotten era.
92-0 is an embarrassment for a 10 win team. The defense deserved so much more from their head coach
My plan is to wait and see if Lester can squeeze anything out of a broken scheme next year but it’s going to be tough.
Having a serviceable offense is part of the formula. Did you miss the 20 seasons where it played out that way? That part of the formula just has to be executed. A better OL, better QB, and better OC will give the offense its chanceWhy can’t that formula include having a solid offense that controls the ball, takes time off the clock, sustains drives, and puts points on the board. I feel sorry for youOne of the most successful seasons? Many would not only argue your post, but laugh at it. The 2023 season was garbage. Four losses...three were complete disasters. Not to mention Iowa was the joke of the nation with its OC.
8<10.Sorry dude but this last season is chock full of nothingness. For reference I think the 2008 season at 8-4 was more successful than this one.
Look I am impressed they won 10 games but....8<10.
I feel sorry for you as well
So simple minded. Does the '08 Penn State beat this team by 30 or 40?8<10.
I feel sorry for you as well
