Is it time to move Kinnick up from it's 4-7 spot amongst best B1G atmosphere?

Time & time again we hear players that say Iowa was the toughest environment they have played in.

This year, without hesitation, it was Penn State's QB Trace McSorley & Safety Nick Scott as well as Michigan RB Karan Higdon who stated such.

If that's the case, 70k are producing a more dynamic atmosphere than OSU/Wisconsin/Nebraska/Michigan St.

Kinnick is in a perpetual dogfight with Michigan State for 6th on the B1G best stadium list. Right or wrong, we're never going to surpass Ohio State, Penn State or Michigan in the eyes of the national media. And it's going to take a much improved home winning percentage to move ahead of Wisconsin and Nebraska. Like I said, right or wrong, it's just how it is.

Intrigue and excitement surrounding the program has waned this decade. It has been lacking in major winning and bowl game success. With Ferentz going into his 20th seas. the attitude amongst the general fan base has been one of indifference more so than in the past. The 2000's were much more exciting that the 2010's despite some big wins this decade.
I would love to see the kind of genuine excitement return to the Football program that would sell out KInnick every game and make it a tough place to play no matter the opponent. Consistent winning (9+ wins) every year including bowl wins is really the only way to get this done.

Well said....

The pricing structure has some blame in this. The high prices for 'big' games leads to less attendance and higher revenue. 70k @ $65 or 65k @ $90 is a huge swing and the department will always take the $'s.

Thank you. I've been saying this for years now.

My question is why do they charge the same price for every ticket? It would seem to me that some sort of dynamic pricing structure would be the best way to go. I don't know how I'd do it though - if $95 is the price currently for Wisconsin, I can't see how you charge just $70 for end zone seats and $120 for sidelines, but that seems more realistic.

The cost of attending Iowa home football games is becoming prohibitive for young families and lower income folks. This is a shame, as the time to start building lifelong devoted fans is when they are kids.

Younger fans bring more energy and excitement to games, not to mention a solid base of season ticket holders and donors when they get older.

With the ability to watch games on a big TV screen from the comfort of home, you need to find ways to get people to the stadium, rather than price them out. You don't have to resort to ISU levels of giving 4 free tickets with the purchase of a hot dog, but there are ways to attract families into purchasing tickets.

Basically every other major sport has different prices depending on where the seats are. Shouldn't be too hard for a college football team to do it.

The media is picking up on the fact if you are a ranked team playing a prime time game in Kinnick Stadium you may not like the outcome... Iowa was 2seconda away from upsetting two top 5 teams in Kinnick under the lights.. and a top 5 team the year before..

Agree... Ticket prices are getting out of hand. Had season tickets for 10 years and gave them up about four years ago. Not as much the cost as the time commitment ... And now, I feel spoiled with my big screen tv, new food smoker, and the comforts of home.
