Kris

Keegan was dynamite with either hand, going either direction. Kris is always coming back to his left, everyone knows at this point and its making him really easy to guard. He also cant shoot anymore.
He has been too predictable on going left only. I think his shot will be fine once he gets his energy back or feeling better.

Too predictable as in he NEVER shoots with his right hand, ever. Like practice a drop step baby hook with your right hand and he would be golden. He has no counters.

You have to be the biggest moran on the board if you are saying CMac 0-5 was because of late shots or because others wouldn't step up. His shots are wide open uncontested give me's that he bricked. They were'tn end of the clock prayers. In fact, he should've gotten 2 more TO's for getting rid of the ball without enough time on the clock for his teammates to get a shot off. Conner stands around unguarded at the top of the key while the defense sags and makes it tougher on our good players.
I didn't claim he was 0-5 BECAUSE of any particular reason. His shooting is obviously off. I don't think he looks for shots - he's only taken 14 in the last 3 games. But is seems like he's always the one that has to hoist up a shot at the end of the clock. Yes, they are normally wide open and he should make more of them. But besides Perk and FR, the team has been pretty passive about looking for or creating opportunities for themselves.

I also thought Kris looked like he was playing hurt again,... On offense, the paint for him was clogged, no doubt, but I thought that he also looked off on defense, and on the open floor in general...

JFC, one week ago he scored 20 against OSU and the game before he had 28 and 14 boards on the road. Even in an off game VS NW he had 14....what do people reasonably expect, that no bad games are allowed? He's the 3rd leading scorer in the big ten, a half a point behind TJD who was a preseason all American FFS

Either some you are just stupid AF or there's another reason there's a double standard on how Kris is judged VS rest of team but it's F'n ridiculous. He's carried the team most of the season and deserves much better than what Fran has put around him
Not trying to knock Kris, because without him, Iowa is probably just ahead of the Goofers in the B1G. Even though he got 14, he was not close to the usual Kris, and there were some really strange plays last night, when he basically did not want the ball.

I'm not sure there's anything wrong with him, the simple truth is that he's just not as good as Keegan. Way too many people just assumed it was a plug in and replace thing this year. Just because they're twins doesn't mean they've got the same skills.
And how many on here really think that Kris will go to the NBA and make a team? He's a nice player but I don't see him doing anything in the NBA. I love him but he's not tough enough in the paint. JMO

I agree with the OP to a point. I have mentioned that Kris looks tired or has lost his legs a bit. But Kris had to sit a bunch and play less aggressive due to 2 early fouls and the wisky player guarding him, Wahl I believe, was doing a really good job of which coach Gard told his player do not give Kris any room.

Which begs the question of why wasnt Fran posting up Kris most of the game because he had a height advantage. Play a double post game with Kris and Filip, two low posts, a high and low, with the 3 perimeter players buzzing around.

And with Kris down low you can set some screens for him to pop out and get open and get a jumper.

I think Fran needs to look for some new ways to get his players in a position for success.
Nah, Fran will just keep doing what they've always done even if that means another trash ass performance and an early exit in the tournaments...........

Wouldn't be Iowa BAU otherwise.

I think it's pretty clear team chemistry is not there. It's also pretty clear why. If you watch the games the team is very inconsistant and looks confused on offense many times(too many given the green light on 3's) - we won't even talk about defense because it's just bad. It starts at the top and the senior leadership. Some players I believe are not buying in nor pleased with things within the program, and in turn are inconsistant with they're play. But what do I know.

Hard to say right now. Does he have plantar fasciitis? If it's still bothering him, that means he's had for most or all of the season.

If he's 100% healthy, then maybe he hit a wall for a time and could still get it going again.

But, either way (not healthy or hit a wall), it's not good for his NBA prospects - which sucks for him.

But, maybe that means he'll be back next year.

I have wondered this season about the fact that players on the floor are ineffective, why not try some off the bench? If they lose, they lose. Why not try Mulvey, Bowen and company.

Kris is really a natural 3, but that spot's been spoken for. With that said, he is rebounding at a rate that is very close to where Keegan was at last year.
Depends what level you are talking about. He may be a 3 in college, he certainly is not for the NBA. Different game because the athletes are simply bigger and faster. He is not the quick twitch athlete his brother is. No where near. He may be a better shooter than Keegan, but he not the better overall player. He may very well be a defensive liability in the NBA because he is not fast enough to guard the prototypical 2/3, and not big enough to guard the 4. And no I'm not saying he can't or won't be able to play in the NBA, I just don't believe he will have any way near the success as his brother.

Definitely off his game. He's been guarded pretty close on defense. You can see it when he tries post move and misses, he looks for the ref to call a foul and looks frustrated when it's not called.
Note: One thing he does not do is complain to the refs about it while running up the court.
I give him credit for that!!!
First team Big players or first round NBA players generally standout above the rest. That just isn't happening. The surrounding players other than Perkins and Labraca have played even worse. He is facing a lot of double teams.

Early this year I thought Kris could take it to the hoop if he was guarded by one guy out at the 3 pt line. Now it seems he can't get by his man. What gives?

I think Kris's performance lately (5 points vs wisky. as an example) has doomed his chances of ever being drafted this time out. I wish him good luck in whatever he decides to do after this season is over.

First let me say that the information I will show here in the next paragraph is not some sort of amazing epiphany. I just thought it was interesting.

I looked at all of Kris's game this year, except for the poor non-con teams. All of his individual stats average better in the W's than the L's (except assists)

Of course, he's our best player. But, practically every single stat category? # of FG's and FG%, 2 pt %, 3 pt %, FT attempts, FT %, blocks, turnovers, rebounds and points. Assists he averaged 1.5 in the W's and 2.0 in the L's.

I guess the Hawks need him to play well to win. Shocker. ;)

NBA draft.net has him currently going number 6. Some of you guys are being ridiculous how you think a few bad games are going to keep him from being drafted or coming back to Iowa. Just stop it.

Interesting. I'd assume he's getting quite a bump just from the coattails of what Keegan has done as a rookie. Not trying to be negative about Kris, he's a good player with some skills, but whether its injuries or whatever he's simply dissapeared in numerous games this season, and has not been the alpha type player you'd expect of a lottery pick, other then a handful of games. Frankly, if not for his twin exploding on the national scene the last 12 months, I find it very hard to believe that he'd be considered an NBA first rounder as of this moment.

Amen. I seriously can't believe some of these comments from some of these ingrates about a guy who has carried the team all season after his first truly bad game. That has to be exhausting with the minutes he's logged.

Oh, and in yesterday's Leistikow article Chad said that after the game Kris' voice sounded deeper like he was congested. Kris said he had a scratchy throat but no excuses (in true KM fashion) so those who observed he didn't seem like he was himself were probably right...sounds like he was a little under the weather

I have a feeling his play down the stretch will put the "he's soft/not all big ten/not nba material" crowd in their place. You don't average 20 and 8 this time of year by accident

The people who evaluate don’t consider what your brother is doing in the league. They have eyes on the games via scouts and every second of video. He’s still being graded as a 1st round pick.
I’ve been disappointed lately. As I said about Keegan early last year, Kris needs to get more selfish with the ball, and go to the rim more.

Interesting. That’s by far the highest I have seen him. All the other mock drafts I have seen have him in the 16-22 range.

Anyone who thinks a game or two is going to keep Kris from being drafted in the first round is clueless. He may not quite be Keegan, but Kris is a great player, who is the only reason Iowa has gotten into the top half of the B1G (not a knock on Rebraca, Connor or others, just that he is the difference maker). Hope Kris is healthy tomorrow, because MSU will be coming to do battle, and Iowa really needs this one to keep a promising season alive.

I wish there was a site I could start where I could cover bets from all you experts on Kris going in the first round :) I lose most of the time betting at Riverside so I'm probably wrong as usual.

Great point. Fran’s O looks stale and teams are guarding us close with no one able to create on their own.

Why don’t you start one? And if you don’t think he’s going let me know how much you want to put down.

I would love it if Kris came back to play one more season if for no other reason than to show incoming freshman what it takes to be great, but it only happens in my dreams. Best of luck next year in the NBA
