*****Iowa vs Drake Game Thread*****

No way do I wanna see mallegani rein it in. I love how she's not afraid to shoot it or take it to the hole. She is going to be very very good
I meant with her fouling.. not sure if it was bad luck or over aggressiveness on D.. sorry for not being clear. 14 minutes 5 fouls vs Toledo and 14 minutes 4 fouls vs Drake.
Stuelke, O Grady, and Mallegni all had 4. Heiden could’ve gotten some minutes in there. It’s tough when O’ Grady is cooking too though, but definitely thought she was exhausted in the 4th.

Iowa definitely needs more aggressiveness on offense in certain spots, to many players trying to make the exact right play. That’s a good thing for most of the time, but there’s times where we get stuck without a shot and nobody to bail them out late in the clock.

Pulling Heiden out of the rotation will be a HUGE mistake. Only 2 minutes yesterday.

Going from starter to bench warmer in just a few weeks is a lot to put on a true freshman. Ava did not look very happy.

I hope this changes next game.
I agree not only that she needs to keep Ava engaged but I just don't see AOG playing 30+ minutes/game as we get into the meat of the schedule. The problem Jan has is when she wants to get Mallengi in she usually move Hannah to the 5 spot, and Mallengi may end up being our top reserve player.

She was never a starter.

Ava has a lot to improve on before she could even sniff a starting spot.

Uh, yes, Ava was a starter.

For the closed scrimmage on Sunday, Oct 13 at Carver against St. Thomas (MN), Jan Jensen projected a starting lineup of:

5'10...G Lucy Olsen............(SR)
5'9.....G Taylor McCabe.....(JR)
6'0.....G Kylie Feuerbach...(RS SR)
6'2......F Hannah Stuelke...(JR)
6'4......C Ava Heiden............(FR)

So, hate to tell you, but she was more than "sniffing" a starting spot.
