I think this year's performance was much improved compared to last year's ncaas, especially with regards to expectations. We have 81 points going into the finals with 3 finalists. Last year we ended up with 84 points and one finalist, no champs. Also, last year expectations were much higher for the Sr. class. Not disappointed at all in this year's progress/performance. I think Gman and Clark take home a title. No one in non Iowa circles is picking Clark against Garnett. I think he will surprise them all.

Right now we have 1 less point and sitting outside the trophy hunt which is worse. I hope at least 1 guy wins tonight so we can at least get 3rd or that Brooks/Abounader point deduction situation is going to look bad. It was a shit call for sure but under no circumstances can a coach give away team points when you know every one counts. Not to mention if we don't win a match and fosu wins at 285 we get 5th place.

The coaches were fighting for the wrestler in the mat who deserved the fall. I have no issue with it at all. I want the coaches fighting for the guys on the mat.

Agree 100%. Plus, a reasonable ref will take a tongue lashing when he completely oversteps his bounds, overrules the mat ref who's two feet from the action, and makes a totally hair-brained call, stopping action as a pin is taking place to call an illegal hold where there is none. No ref with a head on his shoulders is going to compound the problem and deduct a team point -- a decision that should be up to the mat ref and not the assistant. This ref just completely went rogue. It wasn't our coaches' fault that he totally lost it. The team point never should have been deducted in the first place.

That can be accomplished without getting charged team points. They know as much as anyone once they broke the hold there was no going back to fix it.

It is his fault, bad calls happen a lot and not all coaches lose it. The fact our coaches "lose it" more than most do did not help with the refs response to them losing it. You let them know they screwed up within the allowed rules and then move on until you can send a complaint in. They were not going to get justice at that point and if you think them getting penalized there is going to get some kind of future makeup calls then you're wrong. If the wrestlers don't know the coaches have their back at this point they have problems.

I don't think this is a fact. I believe it's a perception. I've seen lots of coaches "lose it" but they don't get the same press that Iowa does.
