before that actually. I drove up there 1000 miles from here to see them get killed in 2012 by penn st
to see iowa not making progress in 4-5 years, is tough. the unbeaten reg season thing is not really anything to be proud of due to the schedule. nebby should have killed iowa but for the turnovers.

Neb should be 0-5 against Iowa. But somehow our coaches have "gifted" lil bro 3 wins.

This too shall pass herky, still the same team from last year just gotta put it together, west is still within reach.

This is not the same team. And there is no reason to think big improvement is coming anytime soon with both lines a dumpster fire. It all starts up front and we're getting out asses kicked up front

You're wrong, the media isn't laughing, the rest of the B1G fanbases are. The media is just ignoring your irrelevance to the history of college football.
Leave your fat wife and stupid children (the kids who are literally the worst performers at whatever dump of a public school your rent affords) out of this. No reason to hurt them. Just kill yourself.

Nebraska will get booty blasted by Iowa. I'm not sure where all this confidence is coming from. They barely advanced past a weak Illini squad and almost got beat by a very mediocre PAC team in Oregon (who is way way down this year)!

I'll take HCKF over that OReilly guy anytime of the week. Count me in as someone who still believes we will win the West!

Iowa had national interest last year with the unbeaten regular season, obviously. After the Rose Bowl beatdown, that pushed them out of a lot of the talk. At this point, they aren't any more relevant than the team that they just lost to at home.

Iowa had 1 good year in the last several years. Enjoy the memory of it as it will be the last one the Hawkeyes have for a while. While the hawkeyes are stuck in neutral, the Huskers are heading in the correct direction. Team improving, recruiting improving(if you want proof of this, wait until a couple of your commits flip to Nebraska), coaching staff a major improvement over our previous staff

Some of you Hawk fans are being a little hard on your team and coaches, I think. Ups and downs are part of the game. Lots of historically great programs have endured extended downturns. Bama, Michigan, Texas right now, Oklahoma this year. Miami disappeared for a decade and a half along with Nebraska (relatively speaking). Overall Nebraska was still pretty good in terms of wins, just couldn't break through to the top 5. Don't know if we will this year.

But Iowa was there last year and came pretty close to sniffing the CFP. That is a good reason to have hope, even if the games this year aren't up to expectations. Kirk didn't suddenly FORGET how to do what he did just last year.

There are generally underlying reasons for these kinds of seasons that fans aren't aware of and may never become aware of. Kirk gets this thing righted and soon, imho. If not this year, then certainly next year. He's a good coach in a somewhat difficult situation, recruiting at Iowa in a state with 2 division one schools. I don't envy that part of any coach's job. But he's a good man, a good representative of the school and the people of Iowa.

Losing is always hard. But wanting Ferentz fired is overkill. You guys were one play away from a playoff. Seriously, get a grip. A few adjustments and you will be back to controlling your own destiny in the western division.

I'm an old time Iowa fan that attended games in the 50s and stayed going through the 60s and 70s. We had 60 thousand at the home coming games when we didn't have a winning season for 17 years. I guess what I'm saying is Iowa has a much better team and coaching staff today but not fan base. Fry and Kirk have spoiled us enough that the fan base has developed a Nebraska attitude. If Iowa would be stupid enough to get rid of Kirk and take a chance on someone new we could end up making Iowa St look like a good program. If I wasn't such a diehard fan sometime I would like to see it happen to some Iowa fans.
You mean the attitude of winning expecting to win conference championships and hoping for natty titles?

You sound like you'd aggressively support the decisions/actions of our athletic director........ and you admire Nebraska? Do you still watch games on your 1960 something 13 inch black and white Sylvania television?
This head coach has been given everything he needs as far as compensation, facilities, coaching staff, enjoys tremendous fan support......and in spite of that he still has problems leading/coaching the team on a consistent basis. Don't tell us we're lucky/blessed/and should be thankful.

Lol were not the laughingstock unless we lose to minny which we might their QB is good wont throw towards king side at all. I think mabin who didn't work to get better over offseason and prob parties and did the lawn hoes gets over 100 yards on him in first half its time ro bench him. I see us wining 42-38.
Cj leading End of game TD. Also turdue and illi if we lose any those 3 then we can laugh.

But Notre Damn we lost again bad,!Texas,USC is most laughed at and Florida State who lost by bad Texas and 42 Points.'they are bluebloods...ppl outside the modwest arent thinkin as us as the laughing stock of college football.

Iowa is a middle of pack team this year

Yes, that was back when there was nothing else to do on a Saturday afternoon in Iowa. Now we got all sophisticated. We can go to the mall, look at porn on the internet, eat cheddar bay biscuits at Red Lobster. I've done all 3 when Iowa wasn't good and then came home and slept like a baby.

Oh man can't say I've watched porn on the internet away from home, may have to try that! Risk of being caught add excitement or what? :)

Well, ISU was a 17 point underdog to number 13 Baylor and lost by 3. You poor hoks were 12 point favorites to an unranked and not very good NW and lost by 7 so who did better? I'll give you more time to figure it out.
Baylor did better?
They gave up 14x as many points as Iowa and 2x as many as uni
Their D is on par w/ san jose state though, so I guess that's good.....

13th ranked baylor is the highest ranked b12 team and they are only favored by 17 against the worst or second worst team in the conference? A team that got demolished by unranked Iowa and beat by lowly UNI! Sounds like a great conference.....

Shouldn't compare those... They beat Northwestern...

Kirk will get it done. But after last year, I suspect most of you want more, more, more. That is always how it goes. I was a Nebraska fan in 1975, so I understand. That taste of winning is addictive, that inexplicable loss is unacceptable.

And a great MANY coaches have both of those things. It took Tom Osborne almost 20 years to break through and win a MNC.

It would really suck, as an Iowa fan, to cut Kirk loose now and NOT win a MNC next year or the year after or three years from now.

That contract Barta just signed may prove to be a very smart thing. It doesn't matter much, though, because Kirk will be here as long as he wants, followed by Brian. You have a great thing going, relatively speaking. You should hang onto it. There may be gold just over the horizon.

On college football daily today there was a picture of a toilet and a picture of Ferentz. Laughing about his salary.

Oh, geez. That is a bit much. If you want to keep the best you have to pay a respectable salary. Seriously, Kirk has done a pretty good job at Iowa, as shown by last year's 12 win season.

If Iowa opened the checkbook as far as it could go, who could Iowa get? And I mean that seriously too. This year in particular is shaping up to be a major auction for coaches. You think you could outspend Texas or USC? Tom Herman is the only really good name out there and even he is not terribly well proven. It will be a tough year to change coaches.

And expensive.
