Lebron on his future post-Lakers: “My last year will be played with my son. I would do whatever it takes to play with Bronny for one year."

That can work both ways though. Rich Paul pisses off too many owners and they're not as excited to answer the phone when he calls. It seems like a mistake for millionaires to think they've always got leverage over billionaires.
Rich Paul has the players. He has all the power. Players dominate the league, look what a once great franchise has done for LeBron.

The drafts used to at least have the semblance of being on merit sprinkled in with a nod to potential. This is stinks to high hell. Even worse having to listen to the espn talking heads say the lebron earned this. Not being earned this, lebron.

Congrats to Bronny, truly. He's not an NBA talent though. And he'll do nothing in the league.
Yup. He got picked solely because of who is dad is and how much control he's got over the Lakers. Bronny averaged 14 ppg his senior year of high school, had the health issue last year, then averaged 4ppg his freshman year at USC.

I don't think many teams would use a draft pick on a player like that if you erased the name and solely went off stats and production.

It would be amusing if a reporter asked LeBron if he thinks his son has privilege.

Bronny will be signing a multi-year contract with the Lakers before even playing in a summer league game. The #55 pick in the draft is being handed a spot on their roster which proves they are not serious about winning but only serious about keeping their old ass star happy.

As someone who is not a Lakers fan that lives just south of LA, it's been entertaining hearing all the fans and their thoughts. Some like the Bronny pick but most are (obviously) not happy.

A lifelong Lakers fan on one of my group chats said he's no longer a Lakers fan. This same guy was given an assistant coaching job on a Big East basketball team that his uncle coached.
I'm quickly going down this route myself. I know @Derekd3408 is too. I'm not sure what will make me regain my fandom for that team, Lebron leaving or Jeanie Buss handing over power and Pelinka being shown the door.

I hate that Lebon is dictating the moves, but I also hate that the front office has allowed it to happen. Everyone is part of the freaking problem and there's no solution or light at the end of the tunnel at this point.

Why in the world do the Lakers feel that having Lebron James for 2 years is worth being dictated who to pick?

Usually sports doesn't have this level of nepotism.

I have absolutely no idea. They're bending over backwards and ruining their future to please a guy that turns 40 years old later this year and is at the twilight of his career. It makes zero sense to me. Lebron and Anthony Davis are not enough to win the Lakers anything (except that awesome in season tournament!). They need a great supporting cast to even have a chance at making noise in the Western Conference and immediately giving their 2nd round a pick a roster spot is NOT the way to make a contender.

It should make for an interesting storyline in Winning Time some day.

It will be interesting to see if this causes any dissention in the locker room. There probably won't be too much of that as long as the team wins. If Bronny costs the team any games, that might just change, even if the resentment goes unspoken.

If any Lakers player causes drama for Bronny, they’ll be shown the door.

You just can’t do that to the gm/coach’s son.

At some point the NBA needs to look into cap circumvention, because Bronny is not a $9 million basketball player and Lebron just signed a max deal.

Bronny James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, seemed to be the biggest story at the NBA's summer league this year. He was taken by the Lakers with the No. 55 pick in last month's draft, but for obvious reasons, he has been the most talked-about member of this year's draft class.
He started the summer league poorly, but he played well in his last two games, which has given people hope that perhaps he can be a viable NBA player after all.
While many reports have indicated the younger James has humility and a great attitude, a report outlined some very troubling "star treatment" he received and how it affected L.A.'s summer league team (h/t Lakers Daily).
Via The U.S. Sun:
“The attention he attracted was ‘very frustrating’ for the players to see, and his alleged star treatment caused friction among the team, which went 0-5 to start the tournament, per a Lakers insider,” wrote Steve Brenner and Damian Burchardt of the US Sun.
“‘That kind of tension didn’t help the group of players to build chemistry,’ said the source, who noted they have ‘nothing against’ Bronny.
“‘And you could feel that there was no unity [between] this group of guys as Bronny was the main guy and the others didn’t feel that it was right, that he deserved that.'”
Members of the media on hand in Las Vegas scrambled to interview the younger James, but there were times they couldn't get to him.
“Along the way, Bronny’s reps made the guard unavailable for media availability on several occasions, which the source labeled as ‘not nice’ toward his teammates and other franchise members,” wrote Brenner and Burchardt.
“‘This isn’t a good look for us,’ the insider said.
“‘And with dealing with Bronny’s attention and treatment, plenty of the other young guys that are trying to make the roster for next season couldn’t show their best side and show their A game.’”
One member of the Lakers' summer league squad had some unflattering things to say about how much the rookie guard was prioritized, and he felt it was to the detriment of other players.
“A player who was part of the Lakers' Summer League team confirmed that with ‘almost everything centered around Bronny,’ it was tough to enjoy hooping,” wrote Brenner and Burchardt.
“‘I mean, he was treated as someone apart, not like all of us, and that is very annoying as we didn’t feel any chemistry in this group of players,’ the player said.
“The Lakers player said that given the attention on Bronny, he didn't feel he had the opportunity to showcase his potential.
“‘I ended up being very frustrated because I was never put in the best situation, or even put in some plays or game plans because they wanted Bronny to show his skills and shine,’ he said.
“‘If you talk to any other player that was part of the roster of the California Classic and the Summer League, most of them would tell you the same thing.’
“‘The tensions were visible, and pretty much we were all thinking about the end of the Summer League to get out of here and focus on our next step in our careers.’”
That player did make it clear, however, that all this wasn't necessarily the younger James' fault and that he even felt "a bit bad" for the 19-year-old. He did add, however, that "he is not ready for all this, and he isn’t ready for the NBA in my opinion."
He also had this final comment about the whole experience.
“It was pretty much Bronny On Tour,” he said.
With almost three months to go before the start of the NBA regular season, one has to hope this friction will not continue.

And Ts and Ps to the player that talked. LeBron will spare nothing to find out who it was and have him out of the NBA forever.

That 40 year old is carrying Team USA.
So they spent another $4million to keep him happy for two years. Teams spend money on dumber things.
