You all didn't want him here and you got your wish, he went to mich and now hes' doing quite well
who's to say we couldn't be doing this with him here too? Either way I'm just going to enjoy both him and our team having fun seasons. CJ is a good kid by the way, hes' done us proud.

season stats so far, for those who are curious

Jake Rudock, 6ft 2in, 210lbs, SR for Mich, 3 stars from Florida

he's gotten 16 TDs, 4 rushing TDs, QBR 138.1, PCT 64.4, 145 yds rushing, thats not a bad season for a new team, especially when talking at the QB position

say what you want, but hes doing a nice job over there. Id feel better with him still on the team.

Jake is doing well but in my opinion, CJ is the better quarterback and a better leader (plus he's tough as nails).

Who is Jake? The guy from State Farm? Khakis?
Seriously guys, who cares about him? Good riddance and enjoy the ride with this special Hawkeye Team!

the guy that worked his tail to please the fair weather fans, that's who he is. A good kid that fans drove off. I dont care how good weve done, we are a better team with him.
no need to trash him, CJ has done good. but no one can say for sure we wouldnt be in the same place with him. you guys are never happy.

While it left some issues with depth, I think it's a blessing that Jake decided to move on. We've all heard how these players would pretty much run through a brick wall with/for CJ and how him playing through injuries inspires others on the team to push harder. Knowing Kirk, if Jake were still here he would have taken over when CJ initially sustained the groin injury. Now I have no way of actually knowing how that might have turned out, but let's just say I'm very happy that KF really didn't have a choice but to stick with CJ throughout the year. I'd say the results so far have been pretty good.

That said, I wish JR no ill will, glad he's enjoying his final year of college football in a successful fashion.

once hawk always a hawk, everyone forgets that. we would have double trouble on the bubble with him still here.

Hear hear.

Congrats to Jake on his success!

UNDEFEATED! Go Hawks!

Kilroy if anyone ran Jake off (which they didn't) it was your beloved KF when he named CJ the starter.
he had not choice, the fans were whining and refusing to support the team because we had two good qbs and they wanted the other. either way I still say we are a better team with him

i guess because the last few years people haven't liked the direction the program was headed. now tell me the real reason.

But you can say for sure you're in a better place without him.

I think Jake was looking over his shoulder last yr. knowing that CJ could easily replace him. It seem like he always played with the fear of screwing up. For Michigan it doesn't look like anyone is pushing him as much as CJ did. Watching Jake this yr. he looks more relaxed as the yr. has gone on. Would be interesting to see Iowa-Michigan in the championship game just to see the reaction on both teams.

Another lame thread about a former qb.

Ferentz made the right decision naming CJB the starter, despite the odd manner at the time in which it occurred.
CJ has done nothing but win with every ounce of ability he's got. While not having the power over time and space to run the scenario differently, I'm quite confident Iowa would not be in the position they are currently in had Rudock remained the starter.
I don't care for michigan or harbaugh. I'm indifferent to what Rudock is doing at this point unless it has a direct bearing on the Hawks.

Relative to Iowa's season, Rudock deserves no credit. Zero, zip, nada.

Jake is a solid QB, CJB has progressed to become a better QB....even I (who did defend JR and the QB battle last year) saw that CJB had a much bigger upside....and it is obvious that CJB has much better things such as toughness and leadership....this thread is over done and we do need to move on

Jake's stats are a byproduct of the Michigan receivers. There isn't another group like Chesson, Darboh and Butt in the country.

Yes, Jake is having a great year. But don't get it twisted. Chesson, Darboh and Butt are the reason Michigan is winning, not Jake. They have been making amazing plays all year and have been bailing Jake out a lot.

i guess our receivers are just okay then? someone has to throw the ball to them first.

Statistically Jake was better last year.....

That's what you took from that?

Yes, someone has to throw the ball to them, and CJ is better at it than Jake. Our receivers have played great this year, but they are Michigan's receivers. If CJ had transferred to Michigan, they would probably be undefeated and number 1 or 2 on the country.

The difference between CJ and Jake is that the Iowa players believe in CJ. They never talked about Jake the way they do CJ.

It worked better getting the stigma of him off our team. Ohio State probably would have benefited from this as well.

Not at all he was top 3 in big ten statistically last year

Oh, because you said Jake was better statistically last year which couldn't be further from the truth.

Jake had a QBR last year of 133.5. This year it's 138.9.

CJ's is 139.9 this year in case you were wondering.

Lot of people, maybe even including the coaches, think his departure worked out best for both teams. Fine.

Otoh, I certainly don't think Jake deserves any credit. He acted in his self-interest, that's all.

As a counter example, Kurt Warner was noted for how he helped his team and Marc Bulger after he lost his job to Bulger. Now that is credit worthy. Becoming a hired-gun for a potential opponent, not so much.

You are right, that 6 TD game helped his cause.....I guess what I am saying is that JR was not the reason we struggled last year or at least he gets way more blame than he deserved....this years D and special teams we win 9 games last year.....is CJB an upgrade, well yeah he is this year, but last year I truly believe it was a very close QB battle

I choose to look at it this way. I have no ill will towards Jake. Quality kid, who speaks highly of the U of I. I am happy for BOTH guys!!! Jake found a place where he could excel..and CJ is Excelling for the Hawks. It is a Win-Win. I would not want Jake to ride the pine here if he could do good at another school. Good for him......and good for CJ...and GREAT for the Hawks and UM!!!

GO HAWKS!!!

I love this. Jake is a quitter, but many posters said CJ should transfer if not named the starter. Jake is only interested in himself, but Ferentz ran Willies away. Jake is only good because of the Michigan receivers, but last year it was all him, nothing to do with the apparently worse Iowa receiving corp.

In all likelihood we had two good QB's last year. Both probably thought they should be the starter. Given the eligibility situations, it's likely the one not named the starter would have left. Because they likely would have thought it to be in their best interest. And contrary to popular belief, players can get better over time. Maybe that is why CJ was named starter by the end of the year even though he was not at the beginning of the year.

Whatever the route or reasons, it seems to have worked for both teams and players.
