I'm trying to nail down your primary reason for hating Frank the way that you do. I'm only interested because of the passion you show while displaying the hate for our Olympic representative. You give several hints in your post above but I'm actually going to go with the one you refuse to mention and that's Frank being the guy to end Metcalf's dream.
Since I'm already typing here, I may as well comment on your obsession with way Frank has wrestled since the Olympic trials. I'm convinced you are either a far left liberal wishing to see America apologize to its enemy or its that one single Metcalf loss that forces you to hate on everything Molinaro. Maybe a little bit of both...
I've noticed in not only this thread but at least 2 others where you have a problem with the way Frank wrestled his Asian, Middle Eastern and European counterparts. What you call dirty, I call an American throwing wrestlers from Azebaijani, Georgia, Iran and India off of their game. I call it great scouting and even better coaching.
I saw a completely different wrestler during the World Cup than the one we witnessed during the Olympic trials. I'm certain Frank may have figured out that being more physical, heavy hands, clubbing the head, fingers in the face, the "dirty" stuff you like to call it can and will neutralize technical advantages some of these foreign wrestlers may have over him. I believe it's Frank's way of "getting into their heads".
I'm going to go ahead and continue to call Frank's tactics simply as just a man finding a way to win. Go ahead and feel free to continue bashing Frank as that American bully imposing his strength and will on the enemy. Your love and compassion for an Iranian is rather heart wrenching to be honest with you...
Frank has always been a hot headed showboat. Similar to Ramos or even sometimes GMan. Frank obviously has a issue against Iowa or anybody that has beaten him for that matter. He has shown this numerous times in how he acts and talks weather it is when he wrestles or coaches or just in his interviews. As much as it sucks for us and Metcalf we NEED to support Frank as he is representing the USA. But after he is done representing the USA we can all go back hating him and how he acts on and off the mat.
This is a Hawkeye board Mr, not a PSU board. Not everyone has to like Frank the Tank. His style/attitude/persona are not the most likeable traits.
I like the guy and will root for him in Rio 100%. Doesn't mean everyone has to. You should probably accept that and move on
As a "far left liberal", let me be the first one to tell you that you haven't cornered the market on patriotism. I didn't realize that not digging Frank M was equivalent to being unAmerican. Very cogent argument you have there.
Lol. Not exactly sure what part of my post questions his patriotism. If anyone is unpatriotic, one could claim that is I. The American way is now compassion, love and understanding of our enemies. Apologizing if we somehow offend or intimidate them and leaving our power and strength in our back pockets. That's the American way so you can understand why your rebuttal is somewhat confusing to me.
As for Frank and the way he went about his business at the Word Cup, he did what he had to do to win. His strategy against the foriegn wrestlers was completely different from his matches against Metcalf, Steiber and Pico at the trials. If he was forceful, rough, dirty then so be it. He got the W and in my opinion he shouldn't apologize for anything.
I have no problem with Frank being physical. I have no issues with rooting for Frank...one just will have to be at my house during his match to hear that. But I also have no problem with Frank going back to being the villain after August. JT...we have had years of people dogging Hawk wrestlers for doing less than some of the stuff Frank does so while most of us will root for him, just realize that we see some of the hypocrisy in this issue. Frank is a hard nosed wrestler...like some of our guys, he has to be to maximize his talents. He didn't get Cael's fun/sportsmanship memo...but then maybe that's why he is where he is at. Pure fight.

I don't subscribe to your viewpoints as you expressed them. For years, I have enjoyed reading posts on this site (including yours), and occasionally commenting. But if I wanted to listen to Fox News, um, I would tune in to Fox News. I don't care about your politics -- to each his own -- but something about your post pissed me off and I responded.
As for Frank, I very much would like to see him win. Who here wouldn't? If Metcalf were wrestling, I would get up at 3 a.m. to catch a live stream of his Olympic matches. I suspect I will be content to read about Frank's results in the morning paper.

Similar garbage could be seen when Metcalf didn't medal at the last Worlds.
Molinaro has blossomed into a real talent, but his boorish disrespect of Iowa fans at the OTT's didn't exactly win fans.

I've read Rossel's post. It was a great post but I'm still somewhat conflicted. He only mentions Molinaro's disrespect of the Iowa fans at the OTT's. I asked the question because according to championhawk the hate started long before the OTTs. I was just curious what Frank did in the past to warrant such hate.
So basically you hate him because of the uniform he wears. That's what I got out of your post considering that same type of physicallity has been seen by countless members of the Hawkeye team throughout their history. Why can't you accept the fact many of us don't like the guy? It isn't any one instance. It is seeing his appearance and actions over the years enough times for me to know it wasn't one instance but really who he is. Accept it and move on. The only time I even think about that turd is when guys like you bring him up over here. That video cut out one of his biggest cheap shots as well. You guys make too many assumptions. You guys hate Frank, I wanted to know why. It's all pretty simple. I can't help you're psyches are so fragile that a simple question around here puts you all on the defensive.
Nah, it's not the uniform. It's the guy. It's not the hard-nosed, physical wrestling. It was the attitude. From what I remember, the feeling is mutual. Frank Molinaro doesn't have much time for Iowa either. Let's just say that he seems less diplomatic than other Penn State wrestlers.
It's a board staple.
As to the rest of it, like Champ and PSU85 said, accept it and move on. Not like we will be rooting against him. As good as Metcalf, Ramos, Gilman, McD, Brands etc have been, one will still find detractors. Some of it had to
do with hatred of Iowa, some of it just individual. You'll be hard pressed to find hatred of guys just because they go to PSU....but if that's your narrative, go ahead and stick to it.
