line-up shake up

from Jan's presser today it sounds like she might be ready to tweak the starters, I think many would agree it's time.

any guesses as to what it might look like tomorrow night @ Illinois?

I’m going to wait until she does it so I can retroactively complain about it. If I “guess“ what she does then I can’t complain when it doesn’t work 🤷‍♂️ Well, I suppose I could…😂

@4:06 Ava Heiden spills a partial reference to the starting lineup. She said we'll be starting out with a smaller lineup.
Could mean Guyton for Feuerbach as already suggested above.
Could mean Hannah back at the 5 and AOG out.
Could mean McCabe for Feuerbach.
Since Stremlow and Heiden are in the presser, could mean Heiden for AOG and Stremlow for Feuerbach. Although, I would think this is less likely to have 2 frosh starting new at the same time.

They are all going to play, so not sure it matters a lot, but my guess is AOG doesn't start the game. Stremlow, Guyton, or McCabe probably going to start. Maybe two of them

Guyton is ready to take over. I'd start her at point and move Lucy to the off guard. O'Grady, after some outstanding play early in the season, seems to have hit a wall. I'm guessing her minutes will be pretty limited going forward. Stuelke is a 5, undersized or not. She was rushing vs. Maryland. If she calms down and takes her time, she can be outstanding on the block. And Heiden's minutes have to increase as well, and then Hannah can move to the 4 or take a rest.

I'd like to see what McCabe can do while playing 25 or 30 minutes.

The freshmen cannot be denied. They bring talent and energy, despite their inexperience. As Bill Walton used to say, "Talent can gain experience, but experience cannot gain talent." Maybe that's kinda where Jan is right now. But I love that she's open to anyone and everything and giving all players a chance to EARN their playing time. Not every head coach does that . . .

I like Stuelke at the 5 too.

Bet Hanna at the five - two bigs just clogs up the middle. Hanna is not a threat 4 as no outside shot like warnock.

Bill liked to hear himself talk 🤷‍♂️

O’Grady is #3 in the country for FG%. How do you justify taking starter minutes from her?
Guyton
Lucy
Syd
Mallegni
Stuelke
Maliegni is not a starter yet.

This is a tough league that will likely get at least 10 teams, if not more into the tournament. And we haven’t lost to an even average team and quite frankly, we still haven’t played our best basketball.

I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again. Our fans have been ridiculously hard on this team.

I don’t know about that

I think we can see the potential they just can’t get out of their own way with stupid TOs

We lost possibly the best player in the history of college basketball and two of the better players in program history at least as far as “teammates” and we have lost to Maryland, Michigan State and Tennessee.

We also have a new coaching staff & four freshman. Yeah I’d say reading the game threads were pretty hard on this team.

That’s not to say the turnovers are indeed absolutely ridiculous. But it definitely isn’t just one girl.

So Watkins was seven of 19 with eight turnovers and they’re going to win anyway. Yeah that team is not loaded with talent.

It has been said "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics." The eye test says AOG has hit a wall. Sure, her FG % is great, but she is soft on the boards, weak on defense against good opponents, and often cannot get herself open. Her minutes need to be intelligently limited.

I will agree with "weak on the boards". Not buying the rest. The problem is piss poor decision making/passing to her. Clean that up.
