Lineups Settled: ISU v. Iowa: Who Wins?

He will get a 6th year at the end with a medical waiver.
Not even close to being accurate. If he sits out this year, he uses his redshirt. Whether or not it’s injury based has no bearing on anything. To qualify for a medical hardship, you actually have to lose eligibility due to the injury. When you have a red shirt you’re not losing a thing. He came into the season with three years of eligibility remaining and when the season is over, he’ll still have three years of eligibility remaining.

A concussion of an athlete involves an interview with the patient — does not require imagery. This is a very easy and safe diagnosis for any doctor. There isn’t a doctor in the world that would be criticized for diagnosing a concussion in a combat sport. Are you really this oblivious to the games being played in college or professional sports
Good Lord you are a bitter dude. Who in the Sam Hill are you to accuse the kid of being a liar. If the kid says he has concussion issues he almost certainly has concussion issues, and there is nothing dismissive about the the concerns. Freaking twit!

Thanks for adding sanity to the convo.

I heard he turned down money to go down to 141, and Swiderski said he'd take it. So Swiderski is going down and getting paid for it.
Not sure if you're serious with Swiddy going to 141, but he had issues making 149 last year and pretty sure Dresser was thinking he'd redshirt this year, so I'd be amazed if his weight hasn't ballooned.
He needs a redshirt to "grow up" and become a better teammate.
At this point, he's probably on a first name basis with various law enforcement agencies.

So you're saying Block is a high All American as a true freshman? I'm a huge Iowa fan (and somewhat of an insider) but sometimes it's hard to differentiate what's wrestling analysis and what is blind fan optimism.
The matches at 125, 133, 149, 157 (yes, style wise), and HWT are true toss. And they have the edge at 141 no doubt

You being any level of insider would be news to the rest of us. Is that you, vhs?
Well leave it to Spooner to be a dik! Except for the fact that he had 0 competition and didn't practice, he is no different than a true freshman. And, take a look at post where I broke the news on OSU and Jordan's OWI, Winchester getting kicked out of club, Ech refusing to go 141 and Swiderski coming out of redshirt to make the weight for a huge payday. Just because I didn't engage in "window" debate doesn't make me now "somewhat of an insider." And I can tell you where M. Mocco is leaning but not my news to share! But, for the record, it doesn't bother me whether you consider me "somewhat of an insider" because my point remains. Block being considered over Swiderski/Ech nothing more than fan optimism. You should be calling out the idiots making those posts.

133 - Frost
141 - Swiderski, and Jacob Frost will get a bunch of starts because of the weight cut
149 - Ech
157- Johnson - style-wise, its a toss-up, and Teemer doesn't put up big points.

If you weren't at nationals and didn't see Frost, I can understand why you wouldn't think 133 is a toss-up. He was also weighing 170 this offseason and is a HUGE 133. I live out of state and talk on the phone to several of the coaches. What do you call that, an outsider? And give me a break, I am somewhat of an insider, even my Inner Circle jacket says so!

So your saying Block no chance against Swiderski?

I would never say no chance but it's definitely not a toss-up. Especially in late November, as I see Block getting better as the season progresses. But that's why they wrestle. But to say the match will be a blowout and giving 141 to Iowa to come to that conclusion is insane. Are you willing to say he can beat Mendez? Can Block beat Real Woods, Swiderski might have.

Swiderski AA as a true soph and beat Jesse Mendez as the #1 recruit in the country in 21. Swiderski reminds me a lot of Cory Clark.

Block is tough, I remember watching him beat Jacob Frost, not Evan, 2-0 for a state title.

Thanks for explaining. I enjoyed my own post a lot, per usual. That extra year of maturity and time in the program is valuable. Don’t underestimate it.

I also think Block is an underdog against either guy. You’re right on the money.

I respect Swiderski with the not backing down fighter mentality and he has talent to go with it. But if Ryder is back to form like people are saying, that match is going to be great. Im leaning Ryder in Carver over Swiderski. Like someone else said ISU desperately needs to start the meet with a sweep of the first three matches but I believe they will be 1-2. I'm definitely a Hawk Homer so my opinion is compromised but Im sticking with it til it doesn't happen.

If you're an "insider" it appears you are "insider" with isu and other schools, not the University of Iowa.

I’m not sure how people can say hwt is a toss up. Realistically the bastard has the experience and won some big matches in his career. BK has great accolades but so far he’s untested in college. Just trying to look at it without my hawk fan/ fack states glasses on. It feels gross tho

I just don't spill the iowa stuff out of respect for my relationships. And if you don't think OSU knows more stuff going on inside the Iowa program than you, you're crazy. Unless you're Voinovich's dad! :)

That's why I lean Swiderski, he has an extra year in his program (and he wasn't hurt) and has another year of maturity. :)
