If we are a 9 seed we wont even make it to the next round to get blown out by the number 1 seed.

Without our threes we are in the bottom 3 of the big ten

I wouldn't call Iowa's offense a live and die by the 3 type.

We tend to settle for those shots more often than not, as opposed to actively seeking 3 pt opportunities every trip down, like ISU often did, especially under Hoiberg.

However we shoot them, we don't stand a chance if they aren't falling. 3 blow outs in the last couple weeks aren't inspiring

Like I said in another thread, this team needs to shoot 25 three's a game and hope to hit at least 10-12.

There is not enough talent anywhere else on the team to overcome good competition like Michigan. There are enough shooters.

Problem is, on nights like these that's a recipe for losing by 20 points when you don't hit those shots.

I'm really, really, really, realllllllly hoping Joe T can be that guard that can drive and dish and create shots for everyone else next year.

Joe needs to develop a middle game next year as well

Have never seen him play in high school

Did he have a middle game?

So, we made 6 threes against Michigan in our first meeting we won, 74-59.

Michigan made 8..............

Michigan made 8 on 32% overall shooting that night, complete reversal of last night.

I would chalk that up more to Michigan's poor play than Iowa's great play.

Every now and then even the best teams have bad shooting nights. Which is why I never put too much stock into games like last night as to where Iowa is as a program

At which seed would Iowa be able to make 3s?

Your post doesn't make any sense.

Obviously Iowa has to make 3s to win most of the time. And allot of the time they do.

Every once in a while, bad 3-pt shooters hit a streak too. Z. Simpson has hit 5/6 from 3 vs IA and MN the last 2 games and is still hitting just under 30% for the year. If he continues that streak, they have a good shot vs MSU tomorrow.

By the way, just did a quick calculation (3-pt points/total offense).
MI depends on 3-pt shots for 34% of its offense.
Iowa gets just under 31% of its offense from 3-pt shots.
So, when MI goes on a cold streak from 3, their offense suffers more than Iowa’s.

Live by points, die by lack of points, or by allowing too many points. Thats what i always say.

There aren’t many teams that win alt of games when they aren’t making 3s today. Look at how Kansas did today, couldn’t buy one for the bulk of the game and lost.
