I don’t think anyone would blame the pitching. Iowa’s offense has been crazy streaky this year (30+ runs against Ok St followed by like 10 runs against NW). Hurt em today. Michigan’s defense top notch too.
Not sure why you bring in Nelson, a slow thrower to pitch to the meat of the lineup to a guy that has mashed several balls during the day. However, the play at first factored in because that's the 3rd out. Is there another replay anywhere of that play or are my Hawk blinders on thinking he was definitely out?
He looked out to me, but I was watching on my phone, so could have been hard to tell.
Yeah, Iowa's offense has been definitely streaky.
I just feel bad for the Iowa pitchers; they held Michigan to 1 run in 9 innings and it is easy to get pissed as a fan for giving up 2 walks in the 10th, which helped Michigan score the walk off run.
Walks are killers. They ended up killing Iowa in the 10th. But it was the Iowa offense that let Iowa down today.
Sucks. Hope we start clicking on offense tomorrow. If not, our season is probably over?
When Nuestrom hit the pitcher the second time and it caromed right to the 3B then Hoeg followed up with the 2B making a diving stop, both for outs, I knew it wasn't our day. Should've had runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs instead of another 1-2-3 inning.
Need to hit the ball if they're going to make a run now.

It is interesting that they are using instant replay for certain types of situations/judgement calls but why not allow a challenge, like they do in MLB?
Either use instant replay or don't, imo.

The Hawkeyes mustered one hit and didn't have a baserunner after the fourth. Now, they're in a deep hole after Wednesday's loss.
Iowa had not committed an error on defense since May 13; they had ONE ERROR today.
Iowa's Chris Whelan: “At this point, it’s survival mode. Win or go home. It’s one frame of mind right now. There’s no (more) second chances in the situation we’re in. We’ve dug ourselves a pretty big hole.”
Iowa coach Rick Heller after his team got 1 hit in 10 innings: “A weird game. For us, it felt like Michigan had 15 fielders out there. We hit three balls off the pitcher and didn’t get a hit; they’re making diving plays left and right.”

We will play Friday at 3pm or so if we win providing the schedule stays on track.
Purdue/Ohio State is a very sloppy game right now. Definitely not all gold gloves like Michigan was this morning.

At this point if Iowa wants to make a run we're going to need a quality outing from Schanuel.
And score runs.......while not giving up runs like against Missouri and OK State.
Nelson pitched well against Michigan early in the season. The bigger issue was Daniels giving up free bases.
Allgeyer's stat line is impressive but he was hardly sharp. Shows you his ability to gut it out and get things done.
