Los Angeles On Fire

Why?!?! Because climate change created an epic drought during the rainy season, and severe winds spread it? Youā€™re living proof of the dangers of inbreeding. Honestly, youā€™re the dumbest poster here, and THAT is an accomplishment.
Climate change didnā€™t cause this because it isnā€™t even a thing. This disaster was caused by poor planning, zero preparation, zero foresight, political corruption, laziness and just unwillingness to do hard work. Basically all the traits of a Marxist Democrat controlled government for years on end.

Maybe this June they will take all the time, money and energy they spend on gay pride month and use it on fire prevention and planning month instead.

It is incredibly damning to us as a nation how since 2016, we as a people now refuse to come together under times of crisis and natural disasters. There was a time when events like the fires in California, the floods in North Carolina, the invasion of Ukraine, and Covid-19 would have brought us together on how we respond just like all other crisis / disasters in my life 1972-2015.

Now it is the exact opposite and everything is a conspiracy and opportunity to play political games, make outlandish claims to blame the federal, state, and local governments and further the hate/fear monger that feeds the beast. Itā€™s disgusting and a happy **** you to anyone who tries to say it is a both sides thing. The far right, which has dramatically increased in numbers the last 9 years, is destroying the country.

Imagine if you will a situation where 1000 homes are on fire at the same time in Des Moines. Then, to top that off, 50 mph winds are whipping those fires in all directions.

Do any of you dipsticks think Des Moines FD is "prepared" for that? Do you think they have enough trucks/people/water to handle?

Just naive, gullible sheep as far as the eye can see in this thread, bleating and repeating what their rich overlords want them to repeat.

Yes, because in Des Moines when the fire fighters go turn on the hydrants you know what happens? Water comes out.

Nothing says why can't we all come together like screaming "It's all their fault" and F you if you don't agree. Your post is a prime example of why it's perpetuating. We see the same thing from those on the right pointing in the other direction "It's all their fault'.

You could drive your vehicle around the earth from now until the day you die and not change the weather 1/1000000000000000 of the amount the people telling you we are changing the weather do with this:

No shit weather is getting more severe.

Does anyone have information on the fire? What is contained?

Everything is worse all the time...
Yeah, it's a Lib source, but it's undeniable the malignancy of Donald Trump himself is feeding division in America, and he is utilizing right wing media to amplify the division.
Could you imagine a Donald Trump reaction to another OKC bombing or another 9/11? No need, we saw it in Covid. Complete dysfunction and blame versus leadership. I wasn't a huge fan of W, but he strove to bring us together in the days after 9/11. Trump wouldn't try to do that for more than 5 minutes before assigning blame and turning the event into a wedge.

If conditions like that had been occurring in DM for over 200 years wouldnā€™t you at least expect the ā€˜expertsā€™ to be a little more preparedā€¦each time?

the $17 million was spent last year on respirators and wasn't needed this year, so it really wasn't a budget cut

Yes. That's how some supplies budgets work. They buy in bulk for multiple years.

And $50 million was held up by labor negotiations, but it is coming sometime now

Yes; it is in the budget.

Why is math so hard for MAGAs?

#RussianActiveMeasures

They're now being used by oligarchs to enrich themselves as much as they possibly can.

The fires were not in the City of LA.
Then why didnā€™t she say that?

ā€œExcuse me, but I am NOT the mayor of Palisades or Santa Monica or any of the other towns you keep asking about. I am the mayor of Los Angeles proper. Los Angeles and Los Angeles ONLY!!!ā€

Nope. Just stood there looking like a clown.

Climate change = orchestrated fear porn.

Not analogous. Hurricanes cannot be prevented, contained or extinguished. There is no hurricane department on call to put them out when they occur.

There are emergency protocols, policies, building codes etc but no way to prevent or stop a hurricane.

Different phenomena.

Okay. No way to stop a wildfire when an area has received 0.16ā€ of rain over 8 months and had 80-100 mph winds.

Building codes, protocols, yada, yada, yada.

Itā€™s like saying it regularly rains in the Carolinas, so why couldnā€™t they handle Helene?

The long term effects of this fire will be enormous and not just felt in California.
Get ready for higher prices on appliances when the rebuilding starts, for example. Lumber? $$$$
I HOPE it starts a serious revamp of the insurance industry.
Iā€™m thinking I need to buy stock in HomeDepot and maybe Georgia Pacific? Weyerhaeuser?
We get a lot of lumber from Canada. Rethink a trade war/tariff kerfluffle? Or else risk paying $50 for an 8 foot long 2x4?
Lots to think about once the fires are out. Will Cali make the rebuilding process streamlined? Those folks may need to take a look at several things that have developed since many of the older homes were built. Code issues, materials required etc.
Expect lots of conversations about this.
