I get that, I just think the whole idea of self imposing bans is ridiculous in hopes the NCAA wont do anything worse.

They also want to set their own punishment now so it doesnt hurt recruiting and transfers for the future.

If I understand the crawler correct, Pitino said the NCAA punishment system is broken, and that they should consider a financial penalty type system.

So, Sick Rick. Let me see if I have this correct. You think a school should be able to write a check and get your school off the hook as the penalty for a staffer hiring hookers for potential recruits during on-campus visits.

If Louisville has any, and I mean ANY common sense and self respect for their program at all, they'd fire Pitino's ass tonight for suggesting that.

Pitino and staff should be fired now. And the outrage can go to the Louisville administration for doing this to the poor kids. They know the hammer will fall on them so they sacrificed the kids that may have been innocent to save their ass for the future. We shall see if NCAA buys this. And Rick can pay the fine not the school.

Also read where Pitino is supporting the University Prez, saying it was the AD that proposed the post season ban. While that is likely true... looks to me like Slime is now in "Save my job" mode.

Will that work? Hard to say. There may come a day where Louisville says they will get rid of Slime to save the school more severe sanctions. I'm guessing the eventual outcome will involve some lost schollies, one more season of post season ban, and recruiting restrictions as far as assts off campus.

In the end... the NCAA seldom hammers the blue bloods. Too bad, because this will happen agin.
