Luke Wieskamp & Jack McCaffery, Class of 2025

Saw Jack play for IC West. He's 6-8, second-tallest kid in the starting lineup after another Iowa legacy player, Moe, who is 6-9.

Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012: Fran carries his son Jack (5 years old?) off the court after his team's 75-59 win over Michigan

Time sure does fly.

How did Jack look?

Ball Handling? Vision? Moves? Rebounding? And the two most important questions for evaluating a McCaffery - DEFENSE & Shot Form???

TIA!

You make fun of his hair, but he is pulling girls you could only dream of at that age. Kid is rockin the dreads pulled back in the pony tail at 14...let the kid be, you wish you had hair like that right now I suspect.
Yes I do!😁

Jack averages 9.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game as a 6'8" freshman for the Class 4A 10th-ranked Trojans.

Interestingly, Pete Moe has received his first Division I offer, from Robert Morris.

Heard he is an ISU lean 🤣
I do think he'll play for Dad as long as Frans still at Iowa, however, I also would not be shocked to see momma bear steer him to look elsewhere. Things had to be stewing pretty good in the Mac house for her to go public this year with her disdain for her sons treatment by certain "fans". I don't think I've ever seen a current coaches spouse go on any social media format and air her unhappiness with her sons treatment. As I said, I'd expect Jack will be a Hawk in a few years, but.......

The only way Jack doesn't play for dad is if dad isn't coaching at Iowa. And that isn't going to happen.

We're in a whole new world of sensitivity and an insane belief that every subjective grievance needs to be voiced.

Can you imagine having your parents get involved in your quarrels when you were in college? That would really be embarrassing.

Nothing says pussy quite like a teenage boy or college half a boy and half a man having mommy defend him.

Interesting to see Jack listed as a G/F. I had tbought he was trending toward being a PF.

Does anyone remember how big Connor or Patrick were at the end of their freshman year? I wonder if Jack will get much bigger than 6-8.

We, and our parents didn’t have to deal with todays social media idiocy. Fans have also become more vocal, demanding and downright insane. I’m not saying this didn’t exist when I grew up (70’s and 80’s), but no where near the levels it does today. Fans ripping young men is not the same as having a quarrel in college.

Jack likely to be tallest... heard they felt he could possibly reach 6'11". Jack could be a Jokic type big with his passing abilities and face up game.

Social media has done 100 times more harm than good

Little unfair set of expectations to compare a HS freshman to the 2X NBA MVP, especially one weighing 284 lbs when the HS freshman comes from a family not exactly known as “stocky”.

I think the problem is the millennial child really does not understand the preceding concept of masculinity. These kids, who are stars almost from birth, need to thicken the skin, and so do their helicopter parents Gen X parents.
Millennials aren't children. The oldest millennials are turning 41 this year and the youngest are turning 26. As a millennial that is now middle-aged with a house, wife, two kids, and a dog, I understand the concept of masculinity well.

All children from every generation could use a little skin thickening. But they are children who sometimes cry when they hurt themselves. That doesn't excuse people from acting like assholes to other humans, no matter what their age is. It also doesn't excuse someone like Connor who tends to talk a lot to stir up the pot and then complain when people respond to his pot stirring. The best thing that these players can do is shut up and prove it on the court. That is what Luka and Keegan have done these past few years.

I agree with some of what you said, but sometimes a player speaking up helps fans to know/understand that players are just normal people with problems and issues like everyone else.

If you are going after an 18 year old kid that plays sports for your school with vile insults and rants, you are a loser. Of course we all want the Hawks to win, get frustrated by poor play / coaching, or don't jive with the public personalities of certain players. But at the end of the day, it's kids playing sports for a school you like. If kids your don't know playing sports causes you that much anger and distress, your are a pretty weird person without much else going well for you in life.

Who are "people like me" and what reality am I not grasping? This is a website for Hawk fans and this is a thread about two young legacy recruits who may or may not become Hawkeyes and have solid college careers. We don't know if they will become Hawks and majorly contribute to success, but I sure hope they do.

Instead of talking Hawks, there were late night posts (since deleted, BTW) taken straight from cable tabloid channels about, among other things, the older generation needing to stay in power and run the country because they are the only ones that get it. Pretty weird reality stuff to be posting out on a recruiting thread or anywhere really. Just saying...

But yes, Hawk fans like me are the problem for rooting for our team and hoping we get solid recruits that pan out and help is get better.

That’s going to happen everywhere regardless if his dad is coaching him or not. Unfortunately it’s probably already happening to him in high school. Social media enables people to target a even younger audience for their insults.

Uh..you brought up Tucker. And if you can't see social media is a cancer then there's not much hope for you

Who said anything about people who root on the hawks are a problem? Nobody that I see. Social media is a problem

I'm very confused here, Kurt. I've never mentioned social media or this cancer you speak of. Just saying it's weird for dudes to rant about random political stuff and attack people on a board that's supposed to be about sports. If you want to get angry and attack people based on generalizations, there are plenty of places on the internet for that. HawkeyeReport is for talking Hawks.

Right, but where is social media coming in here? Did ya see what I responded to? A rather crazy late night rant mirroring a cable tabloid network's talking points that had nothing to do with sports. Lots of attacking kids, policital power domination, and really going off on anyone that isn't sharing in the anger. Some pretty weird things i be doing on a sports message board. Weird that it's been deleted...

Anyway, you also tend to go on random political rants and attack people pretty regularly on here, so not a surprise that you point your anger towards me now.

I guess if you spend your energy attacking me, maybe the kids that play sports for our Hawks will get a break from all the attacks from everyone. I'm happy to take it on behalf of all the players I support.

I was only commenting on your Tucker response. As is he has brainwashed some of us. Or I'm not exactly sure what you meant. Someone commented about the idiocy of social media and I was agreeing with him. Anyway, we ALL love the hawk, wish em well and hope they succeed

Peace

What. If you thought anything other than this, I would say you have a very unreal view of life.

Lol, I'm far from a snowflake, I don't think you realize who that term is actually for. Anyway, how bout we just drop it
Lol. You don’t get to selectively apply the term to whomever you wish. Those traits do not discriminate by political persuasion. So, yes, in my book, when you interject something political into sports conversations (e.g. like when you tried to blame liberalism for NIL) then cry foul when someone brings up a controversial political entertainer, then you are being a snowflake (not to mention a hypocrite lacking self awareness).

Anyway, yes, the point is to drop it. Just let this be a lesson to stop interjecting your political opinions into sports conversations, especially if you don’t like it when others do. Even Chis has stopped that lately. You should too.
