Marinelli article on Flo

My big beef with NCAA refs is a FAILURE to call stalling. That hurts AM.
This x 100. We saw this issue manifest itself last year on college wrestling’s biggest stage, the finals. Yet, that wasn’t enough to make any serious changes. The stalling rule is broken. Neutral stalling doesn’t exist anymore basically. Their is no consistency with how they call it. That’s the big issue now. Every match is called differently. It must be incredibly frustrating for a wrestler that is attempting to push the pace and be the aggressor. I predict this pattern will continue.

Iowa style creates backward momentum in opponents. Counter wrestling on the edge IS their offense. Intl rules would really shift the neutral position.
can any old timers here remember the language the NCAA used with reason for the current rules? Knowing their intent would help reveal whether or not it’s being called correctly.

If he wins will there be an * behind 4 timer given he had 5 attempts to do it (and a 6th place finish among his placements)? Doesn't seem right to compare him with guys who went 4 for 4 if I'm being honest.

I would love to see Karchla (spelling?) be the last folkstyle loss of the Bull's college career. I think he gets it done at B10s, but the NCAA quarter and semifinal matches are the demon Alex needs to shake this year.
I'd like to see The Bull just force his will on people and attempt to toss them to their backs. He comes out of those positions on the better end of it more often than not, and he's not likely to end up with a 1 point loss where he doesn't score.

I agree. A 4 or 6 point move is the difference between winning or losing 3-2 and winning 5-2 or 7-2 and not being in any danger of getting a match stolen late like all his losses have happened in the last 3 years. His upper body locks with Cenzo were great. You could hear the crowd gasp whenever those two locked upper body. The Bull came out on top more often than not. He should for sure let it fly at B10s. A loss only hurts his seed fractionally there.

Yep, they forgot how to call stalling inside the circle minus the meaningless call with 10 seconds left.

I'm with you. To me that's the biggest issue. Alex used to earn that name but more times than not, even against much weaker opponents, he's been settling for 1 point wins regardless of the opponent. He has the ability to throttle these guys, which is the mindset that I believe will give him the B10 and NCAA titles. The only reason Karch beat him was because he became complacent and rested on his laurels against a fricking stud young kid. That should not be his style, not as talented as he is. JMHO.

There's going to be *'s around all kinds of records and all kinds of Sports because of COVID. It is what it is.
Sure, but Scruddy seemed to suggest that this would tarnish Marinelli's record, and I don't think so. He wrestles the best that's out there, and that makes him a winner in my book.

Not sure he's exactly the same guy post Injury last year. Some guys get tore up in the grinder.

So you probably don't think SL is in the same boat as all the other 4 timers since he didn't win but two B1G Championships? I know he hasn't won his 4th yet!!!! Go back to PS....Oh, no one from there has won 4 either BUT.....Nice troll/.

He's literally not in the convo of best 4 timers bc he is not a 4 timer. Doesn't mean he's not a stud... why are some of you so sensitive to the obvious?

Probably the same reason you're a rookie and make stupid statements just so you can get on this board.....

I had that exact thought myself, wouldn't post it though, especially on the front page of a Marinelli 4xer thread....it's pathetic that you couldn't wait to chime in with a correction-oh wait nothing unfactual was said and since every one of us was already aware of your "revelation" including flo it seems obvious why that might piss us the hell off. Duh
