I would think he would be viewed as doing his job. There's nothing ballsy about that challenge. Desperation is a better description.

I think he was saying that CC had locked hands while Zane was on the mat. If that is true, Zane should have gotten he point. I am thinking desperation is a bit closer thought to what actually happened.

Frankly his fake challenges were bush league, and everyone I know agrees...Perry got the match stopped three times for no reason at all, and the officials even called him out on it once.

The next time they meet, allow the match to be decided on the mat, not by gamesmanship from one of the corners.

The match was decided by the guys wrestling on the mat. Not the time the whistle stopped. Nolf was just as if not more gassed than Imar. It was the match of the tourney. Don't blame it on "lung timeouts" they both had the same breaks

I never claimed that Imar didn't win the match, I pointed out that Perry's timeouts were bush league, and I notice you didn't deny it.

It was great match between two exceptional wrestlers, and both kids continued to battle their hearts out even while exhausted.
That doesn't change the fact Perry was blatantly manipulating the officals to get his kid some air.

what is more concerning is that we have replay but it is ineffective because it does not have nor incorporate all the angles/cameras that are in the arena/matside.

I know we are a low budget sport, but for petes sake a 10 yo with an IPhone could get better views. this is getting annoying. Either embrace the technology available to us or dont have it at all because if we arent going to get the calls right all we have is delays in the match. lets face it some of these coaches go to it just for lungers and that isnt in the best interest of the sport.

Exactly, and frankly Illinois should have had a team point deducted for it, and next week in New York, the crew that is working needs to be alerted to this...what happened out there today should never be allowed to happen, you can't have coaches running around calling fake timeouts and getting away with it. It's bush league and it damages the sport we all love, Hawks and Lions alike.

You did indeed say the match was decide by "gamesmanship" or timeouts. And yes I agree Perry was calling BS timeouts. Once again it didn't matter because Nolf was gassed just as much if not more.

Quit crying because Nolf lost the match and a chance at being a 4 time Big Ten champ. Thé coaches/refs did not decide the match. İMAR earned it. Give him some credit

You still have not addressed Perry's bush league tactics. It's obvious that you have zero argument.

An olympic distance swimmer would have gassed, ANYONE would have gassed. Perry was calling bullshit timeouts every period, the officials stopped it about 4 other times, and it was absurdly long because of it. Nothing about that match was legitimate, somebody had to "win" the match, but Perry took the legitimacy out of the whole thing with his bullshit. In my mind, nobody won, and because of Perry, the sport took a hit today.

Still not going to give İmar any credit? What did İmar do? He was ready to wrestle at every whistle. He was aggressive, relentless and prepared for every Nolf move. He won the match. It was a pleasure to watch. Not much else to say

Putting this back and forth aside, I think we all can agree that replay is not working as we would like it. Maybe instituting a 1 point deduction for unsuccessful challenges as well as third party review would help improve the current system...

Imar wrestled his match, and slowed the match down. He was fortunate to be saved by the buzzer two times also. Jason caught a break in the second overtime also with the non takedown call. Imar gets credit for getting Jason to wrestle his way, but the match has zero integrity because of Perry.

Next week in New York, if the match is allowed to be wrestled as it should be, it should also be a "pleasure" to watch, I'm sure you will agree then, haha.

Imar showed his huge heart. Wore Nerf out! Bo-dee Doo-dee ain't afraid to use the headgear. And Zane Richards not only no longer has his own bracket. In fact Cory took the bracket sheet home.

Absolutely in agreement. That cannot be allowed to happen again, and Perry isn't the first one to work the system to an unfair advantage. I have NEVER seen Brands or Cael pull that bullshit, with that said.

I think the match was decided when Nolf looked totally unready for the whistle and Imar got away in about 1 second. In big matches, little things decide the match. A great match and Imar came out ahead this time. My question is this. How much money is anyone willing to bet on the next match? I certainly am not going to put any money on the outcome.

I also agree, if you have a challenge and it is not upheld the team loses a point and the kid wrestling loses a point. That would stop the unnecessary challenges. Also, you get one challenge per day of a tourney or per tourney or per dual meet. The purpose of the replay is to catch blatant errors. For goodness sake, we have 2 officials out there now.

Somebody had to blink. The god damn match lasted about half an hour because of all the stoppages, haha. I agree, Jason just had a micro second of a brain lock, and it cost the match.

Mark Perry and Tom Ryan come to mind IMMEDIATELY.

The 1 point penalty is absolutely great in theory, but it will just lead to no one challenging since refs are too chicken to change their own call.

Nolf stalled for a lot of the last half of the match and IMAR showed a ton of heart. I have no idea what was ballsy about Perrys bullshit though.

For Perry to wave the flag and then announce he just wanted to argue, but not protest was pretty cheap. As for replay, watch Nickal reach inside of Brunson's ear cover and pull him to the mat. It would have been a huge swing in points if the refs had half the view I had from my seat in Montana. Did change the outcome? Probably not, but it was a blatant muff by the refs. I thought it interesting that in Bo's post match interview, he loved how he put on a show for the Hawk fans and how great it was that they cheered for him.

I can't wait to see those two go at it again at Nationals, or at least I hope and assume they both make the finals. There was so much action in that match between two great wrestlers, and it's a flip of the coin for me on who wins next time.

And yes, the Perry antics were bush league. I didn't think any wrestler benefited more than the other imho, but it kept stopping a phenomenal match between two absolute studs.

I didn't see any stalling from either one of them. The stalling took place in the Illinois corner and at the replay booth.

Amazing. The level of hate you have, man you should work on that, haha. Martinez wrestles for Illinois, the last time I checked lol.

Lol. Hate? I think it's hilarious.

You're the one on an Iowa board calling Imar's win illegitimate, and you say I'm full of hate? Classic. Keep up the good work.
