Matt Campbell to interview for Chicago Bears HC

I would be shocked if Vrabel wasn't the coach in New England next year.

I honestly think they only fired Jerod Mayo so quickly (and kind of surprisingly being he was Kraft's hand picked guy to replace Belichick) is because they've always wanted Vrabel eventually and saw that someone else, maybe the Jets in their own division, were going to nab him first. If they don't get him now, that ship sails.

Neither the Bears or Jets are going to hire him. Much ado about nothing.

The only regret I would have is that we didn't beat him in his final year, if he does go to the Bears.

It has been f'd up since they told Phil Jackson to get lost. Worst big market sports possible.
As a chicago sports fan, ill bite and do a rant. Bulls have had so many duds since. Gar Foreman and John Paxson were awful GM and VP. Hoiberg was awful fit for the NBA and he is just one of the misfires. Of course Jerry Reinsdorf sucks at the top. And with Jerrys White Sox they let go of Ozzie Gullien for no good reason other than GM Kenny Williams had beef with him. They hire shit managers since including 79 year old LaRussa, who was literally Joe Biden in there. And they were good in 2021 but in spite of him

Anyways imo matt Campbell is not really a great coach. This year's team had a pretty soft schedule, was lucky to beat us and UCF, Utah, and Miami and they laid eggs vs Texas Tech and Kansas.

Good. Iowa State and their fanbase needs a come-down.......
Here is my take. Campbell ain't going anywhere. He will use the interview for recruiting purposes. Take the interview with zero intentions of accepting a job and then come home and have a press conference and say, "I thought about what we have here in Ames and I want to continue the process". Masterful recruiting ploy.

I don’t think it’s exactly that, because he has interviewed for other jobs, and not gotten them.

Clearly he likes coaching at ISU, but there are jobs he’d rather have. He just needs to get offered.
The only job I know of that he "didn't get" was the USC job. He turned down a number of others...including UW and UNC. Its possible he'd take the Bears job, though it seems unlikely given all the variables. If he does, the general feeling at ISU is that the program has never been so well positioned to bring a new and outstanding coach...that said, great chance Nate Scheelhaase steps into his vacancy. Very similar coach with experience on the ISU staff. Either way, I hope for the best for Coach Campbell.

I thinking coach pro might be easier than college in many respects.

Bears should throw a blank check at Lions OC. Anything besides that and the pressure on the new coach to perform instantly will be crazy.

Bears from office could have had Harbaugh. They seem focused on proving how smart they are and willing to ignore winning.

Don't forget, Tom Brady (owner LV Raiders) is also looking for a coach. They may be in the mix for Vrabel. :)

I don’t think recruits give a damn about anything anymore besides NIL $$$$.

That’s all I would care about. You can play football at over a hundred schools, might as well get the most bank doing it.

As a Bears fan, if we hire him, McCarthy or Carroll I’m done.

The list should be something like:
Ben Johnson
Ben Johnson
Ben Johnson
Vrabel
Kliff Kingsbury
Ben Johnson
Joe Brady
Why does Kingsbury ever get mentioned for a head job?

The difference between he and Campbell is, Campbell has never failed as a head coach, and Kingsbury has never succeeded.
