Matt Campbell to....

I'm not sold on him but he's probably as good a get as anyone for Nebraska right now. I mean, he's proven he can build a program but he needs time to show if he can maintain a winner.

I don't really care either way, but Footballscoop is basically just a re-tweet account at this point. Zero source insight.

Nebraska is actually a good choice as a stepping stone for a younger guy right now. Get in there, get them back up to a couple consecutive 9 win seasons, then get out to a better job before they turn on you.

That's what I have a hard time buying. One, why does Nebraska want to take the risk of forking over all that money for a coach who is still relatively unproven? Two, Nebraska is not a destination job for Campbell. Unless they offer him a contract he can't refuse, I don't see the mutual interest. I could easily be wrong (only Campbell knows what he is thinking), but I'm guessing when Campbell leaves Ames it will be for somewhere he intends to stay at for a long time. I don't believe Lincoln, Nebraska is it.

But, as they say, stranger things have happened. I still expect Campbell to be at ISU next season, though. Just don't see it. Nor do I see a school willing to buy out his contract right now.

Doesn't make sense. That job is a no win situation for an up-and-comer like Campbell.

It's a no win situation for a lot of people. I'd include Frost in that. Riley was at a point in his coaching career where it didn't matter. He had a chance to have success like he hasn't with the money they will spend and facilities. It doesn't work out? Well he gets a nice pension plan out of it to the tune of 170K a month until 2021.

The oportunity for the iron to be hot as the coach of isu is a short window.

Remember when Rhoads had a decent season and his name was being thrown around for possible bigger jobs and then like 4 years latter he was out.

Chizik did it right.

You have any sort of success with isu football you get the hell out while the gettings good or soon you will come back to the reality of being at a bottom 5 all time program.

If Campbell sticks around another year hes a fool.

Campbell would be perfect for a place like Nebby, hopefully he goes somewhere else.

Yep, this is why I can’t see them bringing somebody in who isn’t in his late 50s or 60s at the youngest. My guess is they bring back Solich.

Even with great coaching, the lack of talent at ISU could easily result in a 4-5 win season next year. If a better opportunity comes, he has to take it.

I mean, he's already done it once.

Campbell will be a candidate. Justin Fuente is being looked at. I believe Kevin Sumlin will be looked at and I think Kyle Whittingham may as well. I still think it's Frost or bust.

Gus Malzahn, Harbaugh, Tom Herman- all hearing a lot of noise about job performance, even security.

Urban Meyer trolled as a loser by some OSU women’s water polo Twitter acct. Bielema getting ready to find out if he’ll coach P5 again.

Heads rolling all over... there are no safe/guaranteed jobs in CFB, certainly no easy ones. Anywhere you can plant your flag and make money has to be considered.

Because I thought Frost to Nebby was a done deal?

I think Campbell is a good coach, but it's a no-win situation in Lincoln for anybody who is not named Frost.

Im hearing Frost is the guy at Florida.

Florida has to be a top 5 position with recruiting in their backyard. The right coach could be in the playoffs within a few years at Florida.

I question whether Campbell’s head coaching resume is deep enough to justify a $9.5m buyout of his existing contract.

Much of the mystic of Matt Campbell has been how he has taken a subpar Cyclown Nation to new heights when the real story is how a senior dominate club of misfit toys (Lanning, Kempt, Lazard, Murdock and Ryen )have bonded together and played their last hurrah for the Clone masses sprinkled with a little dose of underrated talented (sophomores David Montgomery, Hakeem Butler and DeShaunte Jones). Campbell had the perfect storm to beat Oklahoma and The Big 12 is in a current downturn as far as talent. The Big 12 is known for its hyper -offensive games and this is where ISUcc won more -- Its defense held all of its opponents, save for 2 (Iowa OT, and OSU ... both losses for ISUcc) this season. Kempt managed the game by not being Jacob Park and making a lot of mental mistakes. Park passed for 9 TDs and 5 INTs and 5 sacks in 4 games only to be benched. Kempt passed for 13 TDs and 3 INTs and 9 sacks during his 7 games as starting QB.

Matt Campbell - football genius?????! ...Show me where ISUcc is in the next two years. I am not buying the hype. ISUcc is not a boating accident. Dilly Dilly.

For some reason I expect Tennessee to offer him the job and if I were him I’d take it. Big payday and he’s young enough that he could work his way back into a good head coaching job when he inevitably gets fired.

Also, if I’m Frost I take the Florida job as soon as it is offered. Big money at a school that has won titles recently in an area that is easy to recruit the best athletes in the country where he already has recruiting connections established. The only one of those that Nebraska could offer is the money, and that may not even be that high since they will still be paying for their last two coaches.

I don’t know who would take the Arkansas job, that is a no win scenario. They aren’t that great historically and have expectations on the level of an Auburn, Georgia, or Florida. Also consider that in the last 25 years this is the list of their neighbors, or near neighbors, that have won titles. Texas, LSU, Oklahoma, Alabama, Auburn, and Tennessee. Those are the teams they have to compete with for recruits.

Matt Campbell isn’t going anywhere. Not this year, and not in the near future.

And he’s not meeting with Nebraska. Whoever said that is just making stuff up and posting it on social media.

The fear that Nebraska may actually get a coach that will, at a minimum, get them back to 9-10 win seasons is palpable on this board.
I sense the fear in every, “if I was Frost I’d definitely take the Florida job.” Iowa has two wins in 40 years over Nebraska to coaches not named Riley and going back to that routine is frightening Iowa fan.

True but he better win. McElwain won 10 in 2015 and 9 in 2016 and gone in year 3.

Well, he managed the end of the Kansas State game in a foolish manner so...
