Matt Campbell to....

True but he better win. McElwain won 10 in 2015 and 9 in 2016 and gone in year 3.

Yep and he won the SEC East twice.

I was at the Swamp for the Texas A&M game and most of the fans didnt like McElwain.

After beating Iowa in the Outback last year, a reporter asked McElwain what was needed to get to the next level and he said a supportive administration. Something is off in Gainsville. Florida's coaching search isn't going as planned when they fired Mac mid season.

"For starters, the Huskers owe Pelini $128,009 per month. His buyout is on the books through February 2019. He was previously owed $264,000 per month in base salary and marketing compensation, but that was reduced when he accepted the head coaching position at Youngstown State in December 2014. Nebraska continues to pay the difference in salary between the two.

As for Riley, he is now owed roughly $170,000 per month through the end of his contract. That would be reduced if Riley were to obtain employment elsewhere.

Through February 2019 alone, Nebraska will own both Pelini and Riley a total of $4,172,126. Once Pelini is off the books, Riley would be owed another $4.8 million through Feb. 28, 2021, as long as he doesn’t obtain another job"

That's $9 million to former coaches, plus they still owe the fired AD some money. There's no way they would pay $9.5 million to Iowa State for the buyout, is there? That's $18.5 million before they pay $1 in salary.

Matt Campbell isn’t going anywhere. Not this year, and not in the near future.

And he’s not meeting with Nebraska. Whoever said that is just making stuff up and posting it on social media.
Campbell said yesterday he isn't going anywhere. Of course, he could be lying.

The oportunity for the iron to be hot as the coach of isu is a short window.

Remember when Rhoads had a decent season and his name was being thrown around for possible bigger jobs and then like 4 years latter he was out.

Chizik did it right.

You have any sort of success with isu football you get the hell out while the gettings good or soon you will come back to the reality of being at a bottom 5 all time program.

If Campbell sticks around another year hes a fool.

Campbell would be perfect for a place like Nebby, hopefully he goes somewhere else.

Chizik never had success though, at Iowa State. He flat out sucked

We heard the same thing before this season about how Iowa was scared now that nebraska actually found a quarterback in Tanner Lee. 3 picks and one ass beating later its clear we were terrified.

The fear that Nebraska may actually get a coach that will, at a minimum, get them back to 9-10 win seasons is palpable on this board.
I sense the fear in every, “if I was Frost I’d definitely take the Florida job.” Iowa has two wins in 40 years over Nebraska to coaches not named Riley and going back to that routine is frightening Iowa fan.

Can't see Leach either. The Nebraska fans couldn't take Pelini's antics. Leach would make them nuts.

Yeah, Leach is the type of guy you hire when you need to light a fire in your program, and you don't care what he's like or what he does. Don't think Nebraska is quite at that level. Leach wouldn't fit in there or anywhere in the B1G.

Add to that his record of 2-8 vs. Texas while at TT and 1-5 vs. Washington while at WSU. I don't think that kind of record vs. Iowa or Wisky would go over well.

I did see some of the press conference with your AD and reading between the lines - he appeared very confident and looked like he already has his guy. He pretty much said he’s been working behind the scenes and also made a comment something like - “nobody I’ve made an offer to has said no”. It will be interesting to see who the new hire is – but it does appear that your university has made a good hire in their athletic director.

He seems like a great fit at AD.....easy going, great speaker, seems to be very transparent and decisive

Been a rough weekend for you. I'll go ahead and let you have this one. Yes, we're terrified. Hope you guys are starting to walk a little better.

Please please look into these things before making an assumption. He got fired because thier team had 9 felonies and quit during the season. It wasn't the previous seasons, it was the fact half his team had court dates

And his offensive schemes sucked. Florida should never have any issues recruiting skill position players on that side of the ball.

He isn’t going anywhere. He just found out that he now coaches at a school where the fans would rather talk about a Big 12 conspiracy than his horrible end of game/clock management problems. Why would you leave that for a place with real expectations?

He will stay at ISU......until the Ohio State job is open...or maybe Notre Dame
A couple of people have made an interesting point along those lines.....Campbell isn't likely to take a job (Nebraska) that would essentially take him out of the running for the tOSU job, were it to become open.

I also listened to the first 5 minutes or so of the press conference as I as driving through Nebraska. Pretty impressed with him and also agree it sounded to me as though he already has his guy. It’s frost or bust. Anything less will be seen as a failure by the husker faithful.

Iowa, afraid of Nebraska? Seriously? Your team isn’t even competitive right now. Why would we be scared?

Honestly, we need for Nebraska to become competitive again for the sake of the B1G west. Pretty sure when the divisions were Aligned, the thought was that Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin would be competing for the division regularly. Right now, Nebraska is not holding up their end of the agreement.

Not sure Frost's approach will work in the B1G for those November games <35 degrees and a howling wind. You gotta have a good defense and an adequate offense to win on those days. His past coaching hasn't prepared him for B1G football.
But if Nebby fans want him... whatever.

Frost is Nebbys number one target and you get the feel like he's coming but until it happens you never know. Moos has a backup list just in case as programs like FLA can throw a lot of money and prestige somene's way. At the end of the day this is an ego driven business so guys want to compete and win at the highest level.

The road to excellence for Arkansas is paved by jumping to the Big 12. Arkansas will never be a championship team in the SEC West!!! They would have to be willing to forgo the SEC money for the ability to contest for Championships in the Big 12.

I should have added in my post that even though frost is Nebraska fans number one choice, I’m not so sure. He has a ton of work to do and how patient will the husker fans be? If he isn’t producing results in 2-3 years, then what? It will be interesting.

I think hes going to stay at ISU but he would be a great pick for Nebraska. Their defense is solid, looks like he develops players, and he can coach.

He can coach? If that were true, he'd have overruled his OC and ran the ball instead of passing on their last drive. KSU doesn't win that game without those last two time outs.

I hope they get Frost. What they really need is a coach who focuses on physicality and will bring back the black shirts to former glory. Frost is most definitely not that person after seeing UCF's approach. Not convinced that spread will work in the BIG either against offenses that traditionally try to eat up TOP. It'll definitely improve with Frost, but he's not their savior the way they've been frothing about him for the last month. He has never coached against physical BIG teams in colder weather. I'm guessing Pelini level of success with him, which won't be good enough for the delusional half of that fanbase.

Kelly was smart to go to UCLA. He will be very successful with his uptempo in the PAC. He would have won at Florida, just not as much, like you are saying with Frost at Nebraska.

It's going to take 3 years from what our fired staff currently destroyed what was built for over 50 years and if some Husker fans don't except that they are clueless... Being one of our own he will given more time to rebuild knowing where we are now.

There are postions on the team that badly need to be fixed and some area we will be fine.

I think they ride with Riley another year if

It is going to take more than 3 years- ask Jim Harbaugh how year 3 went. Nebraska is in worse shape than the Michigan team that Harbaugh inherited. First off, Lincoln is no Ann Arbor.

No coach is going to bring you back to the big 8.

Your ceiling is about Wisconsin level now at best. You dont even have the potential to be psu.

That being the case, no one is particularly worried.
