Look at the voting map. It is very easy to see where intelligent, educated, non-hick, not easily manipulated people live. Clue: those counties are blue and populated, not red and full of uneducated folks that never get more than 10 miles from home.
Educated = blue. Hicks living in 1857 = red. Fact.

Only fact is you are a clueless turd who knows nothing Dumbocrats are the dumbest human beings out there you fool!

If you live in Iowa I'd bet your taxes are going down. If you live in a liberal high tax state and make a lot of money, they may go up a bit. But that's a consequence of living in a liberal high tax state. Not the federal government's fault. Bottomline is the vast majority of people will be receiving significant tax cuts, and many people won't even realize this until they file their taxes.

As for interests rates rising, that's the Fed. They are being returned to normal rates after being held at artificially low levels during the Obama years to try to spur economic growth in a stagnant economy, and our growth was STILL sub par. Only President in US history to never hit 3% GDP growth in any year. Now under Trump the Fed is raising rates, and despite this, GDP growth is still improving. Pro-business policies on Washington actually work, go figure.

Sure, most Americans get a temporary tax cut, which is rather small for middle classes. These will expire in 8 years, while 82 percent of the cuts- the big corporate cuts, will still be exploding the deficit. In spite of the growing economy, receipts aren’t even keeping up with inflation and were down 3.8 percent for the 6 directly comparable months vs the old law.

So, the GOP tax scam is wildly exploding the deficit- look at the numbers compared to Obama! They’re more than double what Trump claimed to expect, 1.085 trillion vs his estimate of 526 Billion!

It will continue to do so long after our pitiful break has expired. It is, in short, the fiscal policy equivalent of regularly using payday lenders. Thanks, Republicans.

http://www.crfb.org/blogs/have-deficit-projections-doubled-because-tax-bill-and-bba-2018

President Trump's first budget (for FY 2018) projected a $526 billion deficit in 2019 under its policies. The FY 2019 Mid-Session Review released last Friday revises his current budget to a $1,085 billion deficit in 2019. That's an increase of roughly $560 billion, or more than double.

You might want to spend some time educating yourself on Iowa’s state income tax rate compared to other states.
You might want to educate yourself on what this administration is doing to the great state of Iowa. Soybeans, corn, hogs...it's going to be a bloodbath. Not to mention the damage being done to wind production and ethanol. I have cousins who farm there and it is close to crisis time.

If we give rich people one more tax cut, maybe this time the wealth will trickle down.

Reagan took office in 1980.
Don't be bringing up facts to people. Wealth inequality is even worse. And who cares about morals and ethics. I can't wait till the market bubble bursts and the banks crash under the weight of the debt they are carrying and from the 542 TRILLION they are exposed to in the Derivative market. People have no clue what's going on.

You picked a figure that shows the top income tax bracket in each state, but not all the lower brackets. Also, Iowa state taxes are going down thanks to the GOP. That 8.98% figure you cited is going down to 6.5% as part of a phased in tax plan. Lastly, Iowa is one of the few states that allows people to deduct federal taxes paid from their state taxes, so that skews this figure dramatically.

Yeah, thanks GOP. There is cause and effect to everything they do. Wait till the 'effects' make their way around. And didn't Iowa do away with deducting federal taxes paid?

Agree 100%. I left the Democrat party after Obama's first term and will never look back. Trump has been kicking ass the last few years and finally has our economy growing again at a good pace. Meanwhile, the Democrats are obsessed with calling non-racist and non-sexist people "racist and sexist", and spend all their time on baseless investigations into Trump despite no evidence to even insinuate that a crime was committed. Seeing what they did to that good man Kavanaugh was just icing on the cake. Cheers to never voting Democrat again.

I haven't been a democrat but you are 100% correct. There used to be good Democrats but they are not really democrats any longer, now they are radical socialist leftys that are out of their gord. The Kavanaugh deal was a disgrace and showed the demos true colors. Who ever would vote for them after that deal should have their head examined.

I just hope we are not heading for a civil war. It's getting a little scary.

Please explain how the 12 billion bailout for soybean farmers is not socialism, and not the president's fault.

I agree. People like you are scary.

WTF planet are you living on? All Democrats are out of their minds? Really? Kavanaugh allegations had no credibility? Really?

Jesus. Trump has warped your mind and your ability to think critically.

Pretty much everything you said here is false/obsolete and/or did nothing to defend your argument that Iowa is generally a low-tax State. But let me guess- that’s fake news?

Dissent? Healthy debate?

Ignorant tribalists who support the subversion of democracy because they think wealthy person who inherited most of his money will make everyone rich, and bury their heads in the sand to all of the blatant racism and Orwellianism perpetrated on a daily basis by this administration.

State one thing I said that is false. You can't. You tried to use an outdated graphic of just one tax bracket to prove Iowa is a "high taxed state," and I refuted it. In reality when you consider the tax code as a whole, Iowa falls somewhere in the middle. We are certainly not a high taxed state, especially compared to places like New York and Illinois where big government and liberalism run wild.

So, I'll be a bit more detailed with my analysis of your specific type of craziness.

You believe that there are no "good democrats" left and that they are all "socialist leftys" because Fox News TOLD you that. The reality is that SOME democrats are that way, and some are moderate. But you've been brainwashed to only see black or white, one way or the other.

You are the true danger to our country.

Lol and CNN doesn't do just the opposite, okay. Libs are the true danger, and I bet more people agree with me than you.

No thanks.

Trump lost the popular vote by 3 million.

Democratic senate candidates received 12 million more votes than Republicans in the midterm elections.

Democrats also solidly took the house.

Cable news rots your brain.

You obviously are a product of the modern failed education system. If you read the Federalist papers you'd have a clue how a constitutional republic works. I always thought you Dums had love for the minority . . . it turns out you haven't changed since the 1850s. You only luv the minority when you can use them to enrich yourselves.

He said "more people agree."

Based on voting statistics, he is wrong.

Do we exist in a system that gives disproportionate power to the rural voter?

Absolutely.

Exactly....some of the people screaming about welfare the loudest are going to have no problem cashing those checks (to be clear I don’t think farm aid is bad....but don’t be so dang hypocritical).

I also think this thread is a very representative example of our country now...and unfortunately I don’t see any way this changes in the near future. It’s urban America vs rural America.

No sh*t. You were arguing that people who make a lot of money in other states don't pay as high of taxes as Iowa - FALSE

Iowa state taxes are going down thanks to the GOP. That 8.98% figure you cited is going down to 6.5% as part of a phased in tax plan.

Awesome, can't wait until 2030 or whenever that happens. Still, that % still puts Iowa well in the upper half, so it's still higher than most other states, so same as above - FALSE/MISLEADING

Lastly, Iowa is one of the few states that allows people to deduct federal taxes paid from their state taxes, so that skews this figure dramatically.

LOL. Nice try. You conveniently mention the rate reduction, while "misremembering" that this comes in conjunction with phasing the federal deduction out (which occurs sooner). So - FALSE/DECEPTION

I have no interest in arguing taxes and politics with message board yahoos, so I'll sign off and let you have the last word and feel good about yourself.

No, it doesn't. The guy was put into the position without confirmation by the Senate and the entire world knows the only reason he's acting AG is because he'll be a spineless lapdog to Trump.

FYI - you don’t need to get senate approval for an “acting” ag. He’s temporary until a new AG is screened/appointed etc.

Educated = blue. Hicks living in 1857 = red. Fact.
Wow. Just....wow.

Yeah no shit, it means the guy is clearly unqualified to be leading the justice department. Anyone with their eyes open knows he'd never be confirmed. He was given the post because he'd be a lapdog. Nothing to be proud of.
