agreedSo proud that Fran is our coach. You couldn't ask for a better person.
Plus 2 very young boys still who will be on the team in the 2020's haha!Fran is with us forever, I think. He has a very open love for this community. It's beautiful to see.

They won't, by the time that is open he'll be in his 60s, he is ours as long as we'll have him or if he retires. There's that, too! But I just don't know what program could offer him that he'd jump town for, even the blue-blood programs.
However, if Notre Dame comes calling, I bet he gives it a sniff, because he absolutely loves that school. Brey isn't going anywhere, though, so I doubt that'll ever come up.
Wearing his emotions on his sleeve is one of the reasons I love the guy. That, and what he and Patrick did for our family in what could have been, (but turned out not to be) our darkest days. He has much love from this Indiana family!
You may have heard snippets of our story a few years ago, it had been mentioned in an online story, can't remember if it was ESPN or SI. Long story short, my daughter had thyroid issues a few years ago, and it boiled down to she had a 50/50 shot of the nodules being cancerous. I sent an email to the basketball secretary (Shelly Deutsch, who is right up there with Fran as a class individual) and asked if Coach and Patrick might be able to send my daughter an email with some words of encouragement. Right away Shelly said he would want to do something. When he got back into town, he decided a phone call would be better than an email. We were truly touched. They ended up having a very encouraging, upbeat conversation for 30-40 minutes. He has stayed in touch, inviting us to games, making sure that my daughter and Patrick met, and still follows up on how she is doing occasionally. I also chronicled our story on my Facebook page after we found out all was well. Mike Wilbon can KMA, he hasn't a clue who Fran McCaffery is.
