I’m not sure there was so much an overreach by democrats on trans issue as much as too many were talking without a firm grasp of what was involved. For the most part I don’t really agree with hormone therapy/actual surgery for minors, but I also don’t know that I agree with outright bans either because I think that runs the risk of blocking needed treatments in general. I only know broad details because it wasn’t really my business unless they told me; but my niece for example needed hormone treatments due to puberty-related issues. The sort of stuff that could be restricted/banned if anti-trans agendas went thru.
On the other hand, I also think republicans run the risk of overplaying their hand here as well - this stuff with Mace for example. The Dem legislator in question from what I understand has been thru the whole process so it’s not just her cross dressing as posters here have implied. I think it’s ridiculous at this point to say that McBride can’t use the women’s bathrooms in the Capitol. And others here have also tried to fearmonger that this is about protecting women somehow. What exactly is the threat? Do they honestly believe McBride transitioned to put herself in a position to harass/assault women in the bathroom?
I’m certain there’s as many that do believe this as don’t. It’s a silly proposition imo.

Why would you even think about it? I cant think of a single time that i have ever given a thought to the person in the next stall over, other than "damn, wtf did you eat that could result in that stench?"

I, and most libs, do NOT want trans girls playing against born girls. I agree with that take. My issue is that the democrats got put on the defensive, again, about something that affects almost nobody. Republicans are extremely good at getting the country to worry about stupid crap and not the things that show they aren’t doing their jobs.
The fact is, normal people are not down with the trans movement and the more they push it, the more people they lose. Keep it up though!
The problem is it only takes one Leah Thomas changing with their schlong out in the girls lockeroom to make this issue look loony tunes to many people. Myself included.
I fully support her right to flip but you will never ever convince me or most sane people she should be swimming against girls and changing in. The girls locker room.

We're talking right here, right now, about whether its okay for GOP to block a trans member of Congress from using the woman's bathroom. Unless I'm very much mistaken, that will never include exposing herself to other members of Congress.

They simply point out that people have basic rights in this country no matter what their gender is.
Unaware of any Democrats who support this, either.
Most of them prefer to rely on the sports governing bodies to manage their own competitions and set appropriate rules, vs. legislators pushing "one size fits all" rules. The "Party of Less Government", dictating what sports competitions determine is "fairest" for their athletes...
You don’t have the right to walk into any locker room or restroom you want to. Your rights don’t trump any one else’s rights.
Why is Mace talking about undressing in a dressing room when her beef is about public restrooms? If she's undressing in the open in a Capitol bathroom, I think she's the one that needs to be banned.
These two things are the same issue to voters. It’s a big part of the reason democrats lost.
Democrats are far more logical and well thought out on most positions which is trumped (literally) by these insane positions.

What does Mace do when you have a fully transgendered female to male start dressing and undressing openly in the female bathroom. It’s such a stupid thing to get upset about. If I were the targeted congresswoman I would start dressing and undressing in the men’s bathroom. What the hell are they going to do. You have her arrested you look like idiots. Dems barely if at all talked about trans issues during the 24 campaign. It was the Republicans obsessing about this issue during the campaign.
This. Republicans incessantly bring up topics like this that have no real impact on anyone other than the people who benefit from them and refuse to talk about things like wanting to put over 20 million people out of a job in the first 6 months of the administration or how tariffs will raise prices on everything for everyone. Kind of like how they refused to talk about how Trump's first round of tariffs contributed to raising prices during the Biden administration (although Biden didn't get rid of them so there is that).
They are replacing those lost jobs with genital inspection bathroom monitors.

They support people's rights, overall. They are not in support of men competing against women. That is fully a GOP talking point.

Trump did it where underage girls were changing. Why would you vote for someone who did that, since this bothers you so much?
