After watching Harding get his 12 assists i wondered who has the record. I remember Jeff Horner and Dean Oliver but i just missed the John Johnson and Freddie Brown year when i was in the military overseas but i'm guessing Horner. Anyone know i would appreciate it. Merry Christmas everyone.

the extra covid year has helped pad stats for several individuals, including JBo.

Ashley Joens is another example; she scored over 3,000 points as a result.

if Caitlin uses her covid year, the all time D1 scoring record will never be touched.

Cal Wulfsberg, in the 70's, was a great assist guy. Had 301 assists in just two years (302 for 3 years). I don't know where he ranks but I'm guessing his "per season" assists ranks up there.

I remember the announcer (Father Bob?) making a big deal out of his assists. "Basket by Frost, ASSIST to Wulfsberg!"

He probably is the first true point guard we've had in awhile. Yea, I know Jbo, yada yada, but I'm talking about a guy who is more about setting up the offense for his team mates and is a scorer secondarily..
Agree,
being able to get ball to Sandfort on the arc and krikke and Freeman on the blocks will get Iowa offense clickimg,

don’t need the ball stopping at PMac everytime he touches it

I think he had 16 in a game which is the Iowa record

Confirmed. It looks like the lists that I copied from basketball reference web site leave a bit to be desired. :)

They would only have game stats back to a certain point. They've gradually added and uploaded season by season stats going back, I remember when it used to just be a copy of hand written stats from those pre-1995 era years, which to be honest was still really cool to see.

Yep, I understand the older seasons not necessarily being listed ... many of the box scores are not detailed when going back.

However, not listing Connor's 13 assists from last year seems strange. Unless they haven't loaded in data from last year yet.

The Covid year definitely helped add to his stats, but JBo broke the assist record before even playing his extra Covid year.

The 10 games he played during his medical RS year probably helped more, but he wasn’t exactly the healthiest during this time either.

Honestly I was surprised to see Glasper in the Top 10. You're probably right that he was underappreciated.

He was one of my favorites even if he wasn't really a star. But he did have one full season his sophomore year as the starting PG when Kevin Smith flunked out to rack up a good number of assists and IIRC he started alongside Woolridge a lot his senior year too. He was kind of like Anthony Clemmons with a bit less scoring (and largely only because AC took twice as many shots).
