Michigan vs Utah, Minnesota vs. TCU......

In David's attempt to discredit the Gophers, he conveniently points to TCU having some players out with injuries but failed to mention Minnesota had 3 starters out and a 4th playing out of position on a surgically repaired knee.

FWIW, I watched a little of this game last night and the Minny LT looked like he had very limited mobility and was pretty vulnerable on the pass rush. The announcers did reference a knee injury, but I was surprised that someone would be playing that looked as limited as he did.

If he is still in the same condition, or his presumably inferior backup is in his place, when our DE's meet up with him...I think that is a key advantage for Iowa.

Minnesota looked like they will be lucky to go to a bowl game.
Funny to see all the assesments after one game, not just yours 1979.
How many people saw OSU winning it all after week one loss?
Alot of weeks to go folks.

They were missing Josh Campion, 2014 all big 10 honorable mention left tackle, with a concussion. Ben Lauer, is the backup and started LT yesterday but played poorly due to a surgically repaired knee so they moved Pirsig, their RT, over to LT. By the time they play Iowa, Campion will be back and Pirsig will be moved back to RT. That's a completely different line.

They were also missing their best blocking tight end, Lincoln Plsek and Isaiah Gentry, a big 6'4" WR. They'll have a much better offense by the Big Ten season.

I thought that both Michigan and Minnesota were going to get throttled ... so it's kinda nice that they weren't.

re: Pirsig - Iowa recruited him pretty hard IIRC, came down to MN vs Iowa.
Kid (and I use that term in reference to his age) is huge - something like 6ft9 and 330.

Minnesota played tough, hard nosed football. They are going to be very tough to beat,

Agreed ... the Gophers are playing tough football ... even with arguably their best O-lineman on the sidelines. They're offensive identity will be comparable to last year ... and they have an excellent secondary. They could really be decent this year.

Gotcha, I didn't see enough of the game to catch that detail. Oh well, I suppose it was too much to hope for that Iowa would get to play them with a LT that was as impaired as the one last night was.

I was envisioning Drew Ott making all Big 10 against that guy.
