I don't think this has been discussed, but I saw a few stories about this woman in Michigan who won $300 million and took a lump sum payout. She worked 3rd shift in a plant that makes bath and shower fixtures. It wasn't in this link, but she mentioned in other articles that I saw that her kids have all quit their jobs, and one of her step children quit their job. She's vowed to support them all.
The funny thing is she's been with the same man for 36 years, but, they never married. She jokingly said in the press conference where she got her giant fake check that he'd proposed to her several times over the years, and if she ever does say yes it'll only be with a pre-nup. He was standing off stage and I can guarantee you in the back of his mind he's wondering what the law says in Michigan about shared holdings for long time couples? I'd say if they have so much as one shared utility account or savings account he gets half.

Leach played in a lottery pool with her co-workers. But at Avery's urging, she stopped to buy coffee and $20 worth of Powerball tickets at the Three Rivers West Shell gas station on the way to work Wednesday night.

Considering it was at his urging that she buy the tickets, she'll probably turn up missing if he doesn't get any.

Rightfully so. A wise person is generous with unearned money.

Julie Leach looks like a nice person. Hopefully she saves a bit for a trip to the dentist.

Pretty clear that the family has never had money before and they won't have money in the future.

Well good for her. Ultimately it's going to ruin her life, but she's having fun in the here and now. Thank god for the poors keeping lotteries alive.
