Willie (SouthEast Polk grad) injured his knee worse than they thought back in November Mizz vs VaTech. Not 100% sure out for the season. Anyone heard?

Redshirt junior 184-pounder Willie Miklus sustained an injury to his knee during the Virginia Tech dual (Nov. 20) and will be sidelined for the rest of the 2016-17 season following surgery, maintaining a year of eligibility. Miklus will seek a medical redshirt following the season in hopes of an additional year of eligibility.
“Willie is a great leader for our program and this athletic department and will continue to be through this time of adversity,” head coach Brian Smith said. “Our primary concentration is to get him healthy and back on the mat competing as soon as possible. I have full confidence he will return from this injury stronger and better. He will continue to be a crucial asset to our program’s success.”

If prior to a third of the team's scheduled dates have passed, you sustain an injury that prevents you from competing, you are permitted to redshirt for that season.
However, you're only permitted to redshirt once. So if you've elected to use a redshirt prior (due to just being unable to start and wanting to spend a year getting acclimated to college and wrestling) you may not use a second redshirt year.
If you have already had a season cut short due to documented injury that met the criteria above, and you have a second season cut short, you're able to apply for a medical hardship waiver which may be applied to your sixth season of competition. However, this is rare since you must still be in school in the sixth year (most often a graduate program) and you must have missed two prior seasons due to injury.
