Miller and Condon stoking rumors on Fran leaving after the season

I'm not wrong and the last few years of advanced stats agree with my eyes. He makes it more difficult on every player. Go watch the Ohio State game and see what happens when Ulis beats his man for example. Every other player on our team has to battle harder to get open when Cmac is on the court. It closes down the driving lanes which is why we have to rely on the 3 point shot. Fran knows we should be getting it inside when the shots aren't falling but we can't because of the 4 on 5. He doesn't create for others. His assists only happens when we are draining 3's. So I respectfully disagree with you. His defense is atrocious. Anyone that can't keep Sammy Hoiberg in front of them shouldn't be getting 30 minutes a game unless they are scoring 20 ppg.
I will admit that he definitely didn't contribute in the Ohio State game. You're 100% correct on that. It was a painful game to watch but Ohio State was playing pretty well. We still should have won that game. I wanted more Sandfort to see if he'd get hot. I expect he'll be on fire for the tournament.

I’m actually a fan of Connor. I think he’s been a key part of our team this year, and we will miss him next year.

That said, I think an interesting stat is that in Iowa’s last 4 tournament games (Richmond in 22, Grand Canyon and Oregon in 21, and Tennessee in 19), Connor has scored exactly 0 points. The only time he has scored points during an NCAA game in his career was in the Cincinnati game in 19, when he scored 3 points.

I know the adage is that Connor contributes in ways that don’t show up in the box score, and that might be true. But if we are going to win any games in the tournament this year, at least a little offensive production from Connor would be helpful.

He's averaging 3.3ppg over the last 10 games and around 4ppg over a 6 year career. This is who he is. Why would anyone expect that to change in the tournament?

I would be happy to see him hit his season average (6.5) in the tournament. I am asking for nothing more.

Not a huge Fran fan but Connor is a valuable player and the best ball distributor on the team. Now Ulis is a head-scratcher. I watched both these kids play in high school and Connor was far better in his prep days. Of course, he was on loaded teams.
