MN embarrasses itself & the B1G, sells just 1,400 tickets

Make that bowl a Playoff game, guarantee a sell out.

Just saying, the NCAA needs to start spreading the love to the upper states. All the games in the south and out west isn't fair to the Big 10 teams.

Put a playoff game in Detroit or Indy and I guarantee you it sells out.

So they dumped a bucket of water on Tracy Clays? Isn't that a bit like going to paint the White House with a pint of white paint? Does he know he got wet? Sorry, but the dude's really fat. Hope I didn't offend anyone there.

Thank you for explaining that, you started so vaguely.

I mean seriously look at some of bowl teams travels:

UCLA vs NEBBIE (3hrs vs 22hrs)

Wisky vs USC (29hrs vs 2hrs)

Iowa vs Stanford (5hrs vs 26hrs)

Florida vs Michigan (1.5hrs vs 16.5hrs)

Sorry but they need move some of the "bigger bowls" to the midwest and allow for some of the midwest teams to get some bowl love. I realize its not the most desirable destination in the mid of winter, but there are still things to do in those cities. St Louis, Indy, and even Detroit all have climate controlled environments and personally are more desirable than "Cow Town" (Dallas/Ft Worth).

I don't worry much about it in bowl season....but I do wish some of those southern teams would come north in colder weather. With the bowls, especially the big ones, teams have almost a month to prepare. If you can't adjust your sleep cycle and/or get out to the area early enough to create some normalcy, that's a you problem. That's why the Stanford "we played at 9 am" thing rings so hollow from the Northwestern game. It was the first game, they had all kinds of time to prepare. You catch one of those mid-season and it makes a bigger difference.

Thats exactly what the minny ha ha folks were telling me freyvet- to leave! But i did not. And i was celebrating a win as they left!

It is Minnesota and they are in Detroit.Reality sucks!
Sorry to defend Detroit. The downtown area is very nice. About 5 miles of the Riverfront has been re-done. You can bike from the Ambassordor Bridge(to Canada) to Belle Isle. Many parks are along that route.Dan Gilbert of Quicken loans and Cavs owner has brought over 2.5 million square foot of office space and he is having a ton of new retail come to the city. Housing is booming in downtown Detroit, you can't find an empty apartment. Huge reason for the growth is young white professionals are moving to work and live in Detroit. I would suggest any to come in the summer to a Tiger game or any of the 3 casinos and see for yourself.

Minnesota has always had trouble selling bowl tickets. Didn't they go to the Music City Bowl 2-3 years in a row and they sold like 2-3K each time?

This is exactly why i decided not to go to the rose bowl: i have the money but don't want to blow it. People are frugal economy real bad. Too many bowls. Possibility of me getting mad at iowa play calls. Not a good investment of money. Can watch it here. I think stanford wins. I am not thrilled with college football and the all alabama all the time thingy

Those are some very broken thoughts.

I'll address one.....Going to the Rose Bowl to watch IOWA beat Stanford is not an investment....It is entertainment.

I'm sure you'll have plenty of things to complain about after the IOWA win.

So you're going to skip going to a bowl that actually matters? A bowl that has nothing to do with Alabama?

No don't you get it? The powers that be have made it to where the rose bowl matters not. They even figured out how To make this ou game matter about as much as texas st vs Nevada. All they care about in media and at the football powers united nations hq: is alabama

So does Wisconsin.
I lived in the Minneapolis-St Paul area for 8 months and all the big football talk was about the Vikings. The Gophers favorability was even behind the Twins and the Pro Hockey team. I would also hear a lot mentioned about the Gopher's hockey team.

As far as Wisconsin goes Madison is a good distance from Green bay. That's more like the Cub fans in Iowa.

+1 I think Detroit is a completely underrated city and enjoyed going there a few times within the past decade. I really like the downtown area, Latin Quarter I think it is, saw a concert at the State Theatre, which was walking distance from our hotel along the waterfront. Belle Isle, Lake St. Claire and a downtown renaissance taking place. With that being said, I don't think Detroit is that attractive of a destination for a bowl game in December, that stands for any upper midwest city where it is cold, but overall Detroit is vastly underrated.

This was the main reason why the Music City Bowl bailed on the B1G the first go around.
Minnesota no showed 3 of those 4 years, that first go around.

Now, the Music City Bowl can take a team from either the ACC or the B1G vs the SEC.
