Looks like the MBB team isn't the only team in town that harbors sexual predators in the Twin Cities.

Not good at links, but the Gopher football HC or administration has suspended four players for an alleged sexual assault after their overwhelming victory over a pathetic Oregon State team.

Quite the Athletic Dept. they have up there!

Anything negative regarding that craphole gives me great joy. The scandals in Gopherville over the decades are very embarrassing and gives those of us in Northern Iowa who on occasion deal with that fan base a lot of ammo.

The sad thing about the U is that it makes no difference what sport, what HC, or what AD is in place... the scandals continue.

Yeah thank God there is never any controversy surrounding anything in our Athletic Department...
I am talking continued SERIOUS matters, From the assault on Luke Witte, Pitino's cluster, drug dealing and users on the wrestling team, and now the sexual assault allegations on Butterball's team.

Oh, and the topper... sexual misconduct/sexting against the previous AD.

I agree those are worse than anything we have seen in awhile, but I always encourage people to be careful with the stone casting.

Not sure how suspending players with allegations against them=harboring sexual predators. What are they supposed to do?

I don't see what the problem is here. Some kids allegedly did something awful and the athletic department responded accordingly. I don't know how you can hold the coaching staff accountable for what these people did. Now, if this is something that happens every weekend or half the team gets busted for it then you can start looking at the type of people the staff is recruiting. However, this seems like a relatively isolated case. Or am I missing something?

Agreed - some Hawk fans need to leave their glass houses. The Gopher AD took swift action here. One of the players possibly involved is even a starting CB - yet they didn't hesitate to suspend him. It sounds like things are being done correctly ... at least thus far.

While I find it as fun as anyone to delight in the misery of Minnesota or Nebraska, these kinds of cases are worrisome when people are proclaimed guilty before all the facts are out.

There have been too many cases where females do something they later regret and are either very ashamed and want to place blame elsewhere to save face or flat out vengeful.

See mattress girl. The Duke lacrosse team and other cases.

Unfortunately those kinds of cases take away from true crimes and make it harder for true victims to be believed.

That is why there are processes in place in order to sort out the "facts." The bigger picture issue is this ... sexual-related crimes are still woefully underreported. So while there are cases where there are "false positives" ... it's a GOOD THING that more women feel as though they can report such things.

What is a travesty is that the law system still has a tendency to minimize the severity of the crime. Statements like ... "one dumb decision shouldn't ruin somebodies life" ... that sends a terrible message to those who might otherwise report what happen to them. Why report such a crime if little to no justice results from such a report?

It's discussed in Mankato Free Press too. As I heard someone describe the gophers b4...they r the best f*cking team around:)

One thing for sure... the new AD sure has walked into a shitstorm with Minnesota sports programs.
