MSU AD Mark Hollis is out

Wonder if he’ll get the same perks as the resigning President is getting. Absolutely ridiculous.

She can choose to go into faculty and receive her current salary ($750k) innthe first year and 75% of that in any subsequent years. She would also get a secretary, mutually agreed upon office and everything she needs for said office. No matter what she gets title of president emeritus, complimentary ticket to events including athletics and parking passes.

Their athletic department was Bayloresque. Pretty f'ing bad. Did anyone see that one of the punishments that Dantonio gave out for a guy sexually assaulting someone? He made the player call his mom. ****ing A.

People wonder why Dantonio was so lax in his discipline? Look at the entire set of events that have unfolded.

Obviously i don't know Dantanio personally to be able to have a clear opinion of him as a person, but holy crap he sure seems able to pile on things that make him look like a vile human being.

Hating Dantonio hasnt been hard to do over the years and I'm not shocked to hear his name but it really sucks to hear izzo is involved. Always had a lot of respect for their program and thought they represented bten well. This whole thing is just so sad....disgrace to intercollegiate athletics. How do you not learn from penn st? Heart goes out to the victims....

Sports Illustrated has a pretty scorched earth perspective on this, targeting both the USOC and MSU. How can this happen in the B1G twice? Baylor, being private and tiny you can see flying under the radar with this, but huge public schools is mindboggling. Practically the entire athletics department seems to be involved in a decades long "protect the brand" at all costs groupthink. Fire them all and shut them down for a couple years until they get it.

This is what happens when you have a win at any cost mentality. Iowa fans like to complain about losing, but I’d rather lose with dignity not win at all costs.

Totally agree with this. Winning and losing is part of life and something that these young people need to prepare themselves for.

Protecting rapists and serial child molesters for the sake of a brand is disgusting. I would rather be Iowa football in the 70’s and Lickliter BBall until the day I die than see our university submit to these standards.

I’m not even kidding. I’d rather lose every game for infinity than know that people in our University protected vile humans to increase chances for W’s.

We’ve lost our way as the institutions responsible for making the people who enter them better humans when they exit. So sad.

I damn sure wouldn't be willing to ignore f*cking rape for a couple more wins per year. I wouldn't do it for a couple NCs. I wouldn't do it, ever, for anything. And I wouldn't knowingly tolerate or associate with anyone who would. Ever.

I'll be the naysayer here and disrupt all the banish MSU from the collegiate world movement, because our university was one of the first to gain national notoriety for egregious misconduct in the mishandling of sexual assault. Some could argue Iowa set the modern day standard for dismissing the claims of victims in the name of saving the face of the program. For anyone here who thinks MSU is worse simply because of the magnitude and volume of their rampant institutional commitment to blindness in the way of sexual misconduct among athletes, I'd simply ask: is murdering one man any worse than murdering 10?

You may say, yes, killing one man means only one man dies and killing 10 men means 10 die, which the math shows the latter to be 10 times worse than the former. But when two institutions turn a blind eye to both set of crimes in order to preserve the public reputation of a program... well, both are guilty of the same crimes.

Sorry to be melodramatic about this, but I find it repugnant that any Iowa fan could look at what happened at either PSU or MSU and act like our beloved university holds some sort of higher ground. Crookedness runs rampant in this fictional world of collegiate athletic glory, and we all choose to turn a blind eye when it's our program under the microscope.

That said. Go Hawks!

And the Big Ten chimes in:
“First and foremost our hearts go out to each and every person whose life has been so negatively impacted by this matter, most importantly the young victims and their families.”

“There are several investigations and inquiries at Michigan State University either currently underway or recently announced, including those by U.S. Congress, the U.S. Department of Education, the State Attorney General’s Office and the NCAA.”

If I was a current 2018 commit in any sport at MSU I would be petitioning the NCAA for a release based on fear of joining a culture that might make me a sexual victim. Let MSU not release someone under those terms and let the NCAA say no and open themselves up to a liability suit if something were to happen later

very true about what has happened here at Iowa, However it was addressed and we see that since circa 2010 there has been a marked difference here. We have changed our recruiting as well to screen for those who may be more inclined to this behavior or who have a history prior to college.

Iowa has changed its ways as they should. It cannot be a win at all costs venture and that should be understood. We are fortunate that it could not be covered up so easily here as it was at MSU, that way it could be addressed and fixed. A benefit to all. Power corrupts is a rule.

I can't imagine Dantonio or Izzo make it through the weekend. Dantonio has had 15 players accused of rape or sexual assault and Izzo had a graduate assistant accused of physical and sexual assault. They're done.

Dantonio likely resigning shortly. will make announcement at Breslin Center.
