Here's one opinion on the duals. Interesting match up, IA and VT.

What a great dual (should it come to pass). Iowa's favored at 4 weights; VaTech's favored at 4. And you get two toss-ups. This would be must-see television.
I think there's some bad information in that article.
First, I don't think the Virginia Duals simply morphed into the National Duals. According to this website, the Virginia Duals were started in 1981 and have continued up to this year. Apparently, the '89 / '90 / '91 Virginia Duals and National Duals were one and the same, however.

Second, the national duals didn't simply "move" to Iowa from Virginia. Those first three tournaments ('89-'91) were in Virginia, then it goes:
1 year in Ann Arbor, 5 years in Lincoln, 2 years in Iowa City, 2 years in State College, 2 years in Columbus, 2 years in Cleveland, 6 years in Cedar Falls, then they went to a regional-multiple location format starting in 2012.
So the statement in the article:
"Over time, new questions arose. Why is the tournament always in Iowa?" is more than a bit misleading. Besides, even if it were true, the obvious answer would be "attendance." The duals have never come close to matching the attendance they got in Iowa City and Cedar Falls.
Third, Iowa is only listed as having participated in the Virginia Duals twice, in '90 & '91, two of the years they appear to be the same as the National Duals.
