Fran is not a very good coach. He would need a powerhouse roster just be make a run.

Big 10 in general was just bad. Teams built resumes on fraudulent basketball ability . Pedestrian teams beating up on one another

This is spot on. Just don’t have the speed to contend with the top teams. One thing pac 12 has in common? They all have athletes and can run and shoot . Until Iowa has a coach that can recruit that kind of speed, this is wash rinse repeat.

We pretty much deserve everything we get. JorBo, CJ, Keegan, hard core chokers today. Per usual, Connor should get a fraction of the minutes he gets but has a fortunate last name, so he starts. Can't help but laugh. This is where our program is stuck as long as Fran is running the show.

It is on us for expecting more because we all know what Fran is at this point. No idea why you try to run and gun with a team whos tallest player is 6'6? Why in the world would you turn it into a shootout?
I have said for years and will continue to say that Fran is a program resuscitator- breaths new life into dying programs and gets them off the mat. He is not good enough to get them beyond where we are at. It is just a fact. We seem to be content as a fanbase though so I guess it is what it is.
If he is going to stay we really need to start coupling players with skill with players that are athletes. You saw a lot of skill guys today that got out athleted.

I'm an Iowa fan, but you just played right in to his trap. WI has FAR more credibility in basketball than Iowa. Blast away but I'm just being real.
Don’t play defense is likely really —- a slow white guy getting blown up off the dribble and after that you are toast. They try but don’t have the horses. When you are that unathletic in the guard court you should probably play a pack line defense like Virginia and UNI.

Yes...I think Bo Ryan showed the recipe...if you are going to rely on an unathletic group...you need to play slow ball and have great shooters and even Bo had PGs that were decent athletes that could get a shot on their own if needed at end of shot clock. No one likes slow ball, so gotta do some type of hybrid. Giveing up 56 points in 1st half to Oregon team cleary was not a winning formula.
I would say Iowa should be ranked 20th or worse. They didn't make Sweet 16.

Yes trying to run with Oregon was a recipe for disaster. I have no idea if Fran is capable of another level or not. This year was certainly good. We thought finishing 3rd in a good Big 10 was a good accomplishment. Turns out the league sucked balls. We just didn't get the chance to see it due to limited non-conference games.
It’s Iowa’s turn. Ohio State took their beating Friday, along with Purdue. Illinois got theirs yesterday.
If anyone is trying to make the case that Iowa is the only team that crapped the bed or that Iowa was a particular embarrassment I’d push back a bit on that with Illinois losing to an 8, OSU losing to a 15 and Purdue losing to a 13, but this wasn’t a strong showing today.
We all knew that this had the potential to be the way Iowa got eliminated. All year, almost nobody stopped Garza and most only barely slowed him down. Same today, getting 36 on really efficient shooting. But Iowa can’t win when Bohannon, Fredrick, McCaffrey and Keegan combine for 6 points on 2-17 shooting, including 1-9 from 3.

I have been a Hawkeye fan ever since a child. And I still am. Hate we lost like this but if you paid attention this year it is not a surprise. If we were hitting 3s we would have been in this. But with lack of athletic guards and poor defense if the shots aren't falling we were screwed. Frans going to be here and I still am a fan. I hate we lost more so because of Luka. He gave it his heart and soul.
