It’s stupid that default bottom is always the choice. Lee wanted to go neutral. Don’t know why he didn’t. Better not do that against Glory. Yes Spencer is good on bottom but why mess with it. It’s frustrating to mess around with it.
For a guy who scores points by the truckload choosing down to get 1 against a hammer makes zero sense to me.

Lee needs to take top. Choice means go to ur best position. Even if the guy gets out, Lee is in his second best position.
Why not choose top or neutral? I’ll never understand this when he’s so dominant in those positions and already up 10-0. Why take the chance?

Brands does this all the time. Has his man go down when there’s absolutely no value in going underneath. Lee shouldn’t have gone underneath for one point.
Yes, he wasted 3 and a half minutes for 2 escape points and lost 1 riding time point. Half that match he wasn't in his best position. Choose neutral and if the other guys picks top so be it. Spencer should never take bottom. It only costs him points every single time!
My only fear going forward is Spencer scrambles like he did from bottom in that match and gets caught. He’s been doing that this year more it could cost him.
Choose top and tilt him twice and end it.
OK so that was maybe the most uncomfortable I have been during a Spencer match since 2021 finals. Spencer still won by 10. Spencer Lee is not human.

Yup especially as the match goes on and you can see Lee isn’t as sharp.
Even worse is Spencer gave the indication to the corner of going neutral, and then they still told him to go down.

Why why why would Spencer not just choose top to start the 2nd? He'd have teched him in another minute tops. I just don't get our lack of strategy and now he needs to recover for a tough Ramos tonight. Just dumb.

Well if Lee gets to Glory I guess he should be working bottom. Glory 100% will choose top against Lee. Lee should do the same.
Unless Tom wanted him to go down in prep for Glory tomorrow night? One way or another Lee will go under Glory - perhaps wants to get him in that mindset early.

I just figured out my issue, ESPN had 9 streams going. 8 mats and the all mat stream.
Just to play devil's advocate, maybe the coaches are still preparing for a matchup with Glory. At some point, Glory will be on top and Spencer obviously isn't invincible on bottom. Up 10-0, give him a little work down there and prepare. No idea what they are thinking.
Brands better get his shit together. Bottom is a waste of time for Spencer

99% of the iowa fanbase hasn't seen that kid wrestle before - everyone would've liked Lee's chances to escape and get back to work in neutral.

Brands should hire an "analytics" guy like the NFL to handle all of his in match decisions and gameplanning. It's clear he's not capable.
For how athletic RBY is, his style is pretty boring
It was his choice, he wanted neutral, and terry put him under. if he had gotten beat, they should have walked terry out of the building in cuffs

I have decent knowledge of wrestling,, never wrestled myself but in between rounds I thought oh he'll choose neutral then he went down and I thought what the f***
