The lock haven wrestler is good on top, in fact he’s known for it. Up 10-0, being turned and pinned was his only chance of losing. Don’t take bottom against someone who’s only chance to beat you is on top. Spencer wanted to go neutral. If he wants to go neutral, you let him go neutral. I think it’s fair to question that strategy when Spencer himself did.
I think both Iowa and PSU fans can agree that Matthews does absolutely nothing.

It’s kinda crazy. Some to AA have to be top 4 and others are top 12. It’s a bit on how the cards fall and depends is a top end guys has bad match and rebounds to top form

All correct until then end. Don’t defer. Choose top or neutral and extend your lead, possibly eliminate the third period all together.
Deferring is stupid. But wrestling is run by people who think it makes sense to have an even number of weight classes in HS and college, so in all honesty wrestling is dominated by people who don’t think things through very much.
They stepped out. That was all Matthews. Some of the dumbest wrestling I’ve seen in years.

End of the day you can always guarantee Iowa coaches do not care who the opponent is and do not game plan per round.

Dumb move. Teske has struggled on bottom at times and philippi is tough on top. Our corner strategy leaves a lot to be desired. Spencer probably techs Noto if he takes top in the 2nd.

Agreed... Our guys always wrestle the same way no matter who the opponent is. The old days of out-powering and out-muscling the opponent is gone. More often than not we seem to get out-muscled..
And Nagao isn't? The point is, he was leading 10-0 and he has NEVER been turned and pinned from the bottom position EVER. The 1 time Lee got pinned came from neutral. With a 10-0 lead he is safer on bottom from getting into a postion to get turned than to get thrown on his back like Ramos did.
Look, if Lee was bad on bottom, I would understand. But, he is NOT. Also, it was 2nd period, not the 3rd. With his gas tank questions, maybe you choose neutral in the 3rd. In the 2nd, bottom was a no brainer.
When you have a guy that good, if you can choosed bottom for RBY after just getting ridden out just over a week ago, you can choose it up 10-0...
